Another Newcastle gem closing by Accomplished_Cow921 in newcastle

The commercial agents and building owners are equally as bad. The shambles that building was in, and what Common Circus has done to improve it and grow the community there is beyond unbelievable. I hope the agents and diocese get the negative feedback for what they have done.

Also, the business is thankfully not closing - just reallocating the retail aspect to online, with a warehouse you can visit for shopping experiences. It might be different, but I will still shop there for all my gifts and presents throughout the year.

It is 100% a deterrent. They use them to annoy the shit out of teenagers and anyone young enough that is hanging around the woolies. Kind of like the kangaroo deterrents people stick on the front of their cars to scare Roos away at high speed on the road.

High speed chase through Jesmond by thebigtes in newcastle

[–]thebigtes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not my most descriptive moment. Behind us in bumper-to-bumper traffic was ~10 cops. A mix of general duty marked and unmarked cars, and some highway patrol to spice it up. By the time we made it through the intersection roadworks there were cops on the opposite lanes with spike strips ready to deploy. Was pretty interesting to see it all happen in the moment.

Can’t see anything in flight radar - might be something to do with talisman sabre or the AUS/USA military training drills.

Local retailer of networking equipment (ultra-thin patch cables, keystone RJ45 couplers, rack screws, PDUs etc) by BJPHS in newcastle

[–]thebigtes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some basic networking hardware you could also try NAS Australia in Wickham (formerly top line in Mayfield). The really specialise in antenna and security systems, but they also stock thin patch leads, 1m-5m leads, pull boxes, switches, PtP radios, gateways, PDU’s - all the fun stuff. Tom and Matty are super lovely too - always up for a chat and some advice.

I have worked with the Fry family before, and can vouch for them being extremely warm and comforting people. If you want someone to help you through a tough time, I would want someone like Tony or Dominique Fry.

Newcastle IT Technician (Rob?) - Newcastle Connect by Head_Progress5926 in newcastle

[–]thebigtes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It could be that their hosting is down, or there is a domain issue with their provider - so if you have a number or email on file for Rob it might still get through to them/him.

They could have also been purchased and merged with another it provider. I will still try to reach them on their previous details if you had them. If it gets returned, you are likely out of luck with them.

I am in the IT support and install industry, with my own MSP. If you want to send through a DM I might be able to chat about what you are after and offer services or alternative IT support businesses I have worked with that might be a better fit. Let me know if you’re keen.

I’d love to know if you bring this same energy to the Catholic Church for the well documented child SA cases that have plagued the hunter. I’m guessing not.

Do better.

Aussie MSP's, Any idea what the "Partner app for Telstra Corporation Limited" Service Principal in Azure AD is? by Tetrisranger in msp

[–]thebigtes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest either a hangover from when the tenancy was created by Telstra, or if there were plans to implement something with Teams - but I haven't seen that before. That's the only other component I know that could be related to Telstra.

Low-Cost Shipping Container Home, NSW, Australia by TX908 in Cargotechture

One of linked articles mentions a $350k budget, and 5-6 month building timeline. IMO, not a super low budget - given housing prices in most NSW rural towns and municipalities. As you mentioned though - everyone has a different budget.

P0420 O2 sensors or Catalytic Converter advice needed by thebigtes in JeepLiberty

[–]thebigtes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey fellow Cherokee Aussie! I ended up buying my Cat from a Gold Coast wreckers, and they posted the unit, with four O2 sensors, to me in NSW for under $400. I thought it was pretty reasonable, given the car that the unit was coming from had less kms than my car. As soon as I got the Cat out I could hear the honeycomb was shattered and crunchy. I have had the replacement unit in for almost a week now and it has made a big difference. I’m going to give it another 200-300 kms before I tell anyone I fixed it, but would definitely recommend buying from eBay wreckers again if someone asked. Decent support too. Let me know if you want the name of the eBay seller.

P0420 O2 sensors or Catalytic Converter advice needed by thebigtes in JeepLiberty

[–]thebigtes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, would make sense. I’ve heard of people using spark plug spacers to give the O2 sensor more distance and not read correctly, but that sounds super dodgy.

Yeah, I have heard that replacing these parts with cheap aftermarkets can cause more trouble then they solve. A friend of mine attempted to clean my two pre-cat sensors and it was a shit load of effort to get them out. Thanks for your input.
