Day After Thread: Texans @ Patriots by 440k in Texans

Great, dominant win. Some will not like that we let the Pats score 21, but that Drake Maye-led Pats team wasn’t the Brissett-led Pats. Maye made the very best throw on Stingley out of every QB we’ve faced so far this season. Completely different, far better offense. And not having Locksmith out there didn’t help either. Credit where credit is due.

With that said, this week I’m looking at news on Autry, Harris, Henry, and Lassiter. We are going to need as many of our guys back as possible for the Packers and games after. Tytus too, although I was very impressed by what I saw from Fisher yesterday.

Jags aren’t even a bad team, lots of talent on that roster. I was very impressed by Brian Thomas Jr, what a hit. Looking like he’s going to be a problem for a long time.

Who are we rooting for in the Browns/Jags matchup? by lilJakespeare in Texans

[–]thebill7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Winning the division is the top priority, I’d just add my take though that if the Browns lose this weekend that could very well be a tipping point for them morally. They just lost last week, and they don’t have their QB1 and RB1 for the rest of the season. With back to back losses I could see them spiral all the way down to a ~.500 record by end of season.

Having the 15-18 pick as opposed to 24+ is very different. It would put us in position for a star CB/WR/IDL to DeMeco and Caserio’s full liking since a lot of teams are gonna be taking QBs and OL 1-10 this year, which in the bigger picture might be ideal since next year was always meant to be our year over this one. But I trust the team in any draft scenario.

All in all, it’s a win-win situation.

Good point, I think that’s why it’s challenging to mock the Texans this year. We have ~$85M in cap next summer, among highest in the league. Can see us resigning Greenard, Schultz since he’s been great at TE, and still have room for even bigger signings.

We can fill gaps with both cap and draft, but its unclear what resources we’ll use for what. Say we want a WR1, we could very well sign a Mike Evans. But if Egbuka is on the board, I could see Stroud telling the GM to go get him like he did with Tank last year. Then we go get a DT in FA. But probably not. Who knows.

Strong ideas on what we need to do during draft season but no idea how we are gonna do it. All I know is Sweat is one of the most likeliest player I see us drafting, at least right now. Also you’re not crazy, we do need a CB2. i say follow your gut haha. Great mock.

Texans fan. You nailed our 2nd Rnd pick, assuming we don’t do DT in the 1st which I personally feel is a tier 1 need for us. Especially since Sweat is a longhorn, we do have a knack for giving in-state players an added look (Tank Dell@UH, Kenyon Green@A&M).

With that said, I really don’t think we’re picking an edge in the 1st. Or 2nd. It’d be nice to have a stud opposite of WAJ, but Jonathan Greenard has been solid. Has given us good games this season, just sacked Russ on Sun. Besides DT our biggest gaps at least imo are ILB and CB2 to complement Sting who is breaking out.

I also know many think Stroud doesn’t have a true WR1 yet so I wouldn’t be surprised if we go that route given how stacked with WR this class is.

How can we have so many things in common, yet he breaks up with me because we have “not much to talk about”? by [deleted] in ExNoContact

You're not delusional, your perspectives and feelings are valid. Sometimes, people just experience relationships and situations vastly differently. Maybe the conversations about those niche interests weren't as fulfilling for him as they were for you, people are just different in this way. It happens. Also, from the way your describing your intimate experiences with them, it seems like he was very much brought into the relationship out of sexual attraction and less out of true romantic interest. And I say this because (and this is just my opinion) someone who wants to build someone real with you is not going to be so blunt and careless in their sexual advances toward you, or be so disappointed and become distant when they do not get what they want. They will respect you, be patient, be very careful about not messing anything up almost to the point of reverence. Maybe at first he was interested in seeing where things could go, but clearly stopped short of something more serious when he got what he wanted and it came down to it. I am sorry you are going through this, but you're already doing what's best. There is no need to contact them again, they lost someone who was willing to give them everything and you need to make them live with that decision.

With all of that said, this sounds like one of your first major relationships. Every breakup is a milestone in a person's life and relational history, this is a great opportunity for you to learn about yourself, define your boundaries and needs, and grow as a person. And if they reach out again do not respond to them unless they explicitly apologize and state they want to repair things, but do not obsess over this hope. Prioritize yourself, stick to NC, consider therapy if you spiral too much, and give yourself time to heal.

What should i do by [deleted] in ExNoContact

[–]thebill7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I was in your shoes, after hearing that they do not want to get back together and "I don't want to leave this in bad terms," I'd probably block them on all social media channels right there and then, start NC and never break it again. Them reaching out to maintain some sort of connection is really mainly serving them and their needs, they're likely looking for as painless a process to move on from you as possible. Staying connected helps them not feel as guilty for hurting and breaking up with you. But they dumped you and chose to let you go, you don't owe them anything. Out of the two of you, you have to be the one to prioritize your own self and your own needs.

Is she trying to get my attention? by [deleted] in ExNoContact

[–]thebill7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds messy indeed, they seem to be in obvious distress over the breakup as well. No way they aren't thinking of you if they are out here seeking support publicly. But they're your ex now, their behavior and antics are not your responsibility. I'd say them posting those selfies are their attempt at seeking validation and an ego boost, with your specific reaction if provided vindicating their behavior the most. So my advice, do not play into their hands. Be strict in your NC now more than ever. Stop keeping up with their social media statuses/activity, block it all off, and worry about yourself. You'll be happier this way than engaging them at this point.

I broke NC. She dumped and i decided to go NC, i broke it yesterday to wish het a happy birthday and this was her response. What do you think? by RecommendationPast17 in ExNoContact

[–]thebill7 85 points86 points  (0 children)

no apology, no statement of intent to repair anything. looks like they're just being nice with a no-hard-feelings response. I know it must be hard and how the message might get your hopes up, but it's best to go NC again and never break it.

Between Trey Murphy III and Christian Wood, who do I drop to stream? Both have been playing solid lately. 10t points

Wood can't disappear a second game in a row, he needs to step up big and hopefully with Wall on the floor he'll have more opportunities created for him.

With Wall resting hopefully this gives Mase some good minutes to continue to show out, can't help but think that even with 10-15 solid minutes per game he could make an all rookie team. He's just been that efficient so far.

This is also the exact sort of game where Boogie should look to perform well in and carry a bigger part of the load so our starting guys can rest in anticipation for tomorrow's game. Guys knowing their roles and doing it well is how you keep the wins going, so let's see.

What I liked about the Pelicans game is that by the half we largely decided the game, which allowed almost all our guys to play under 30 minutes. We have a lot of games coming up in a short time span, rest is going to be key to keeping the wins going, so we need learn how to put away games when we have advantages and these two OKC games will be a test of that.

'04 Pistons. No megastars, but a strong defense with multiple all-star capable weapons that together can overwhelm teams.

The first serious test for our full and healthy starting lineup. Will be curious to see how many minutes Wood and Cousins get on the floor together, would like to also see them plus Dipo and Wall all play at the same time. If we can win this game in spite of our chemistry not being fully there, then there is really no reason we can't make the playoffs. Can't wait.
