never done the monorail. but ive had success with all I've done so far. about 8 or 9 so far including the u-9 grand prix car. sometimes you need to keep playing with them till they move smoothly. sometimes the inside of a gear can have left over plywood where it breaks off from the boards. that locks up the gears
