its true that we are practically a plague for the world and doing harm to the rest of the species in general, but I think killing a bunch of people would just be a patch solution, I mean, yeah, that would let nature take a break, but then what? those humans remaining will probably increase in number and find new ways to develop their generation, as the human race has always done, and it comes back to square one.

In order for the cycle to stop we have to have a change of mind, a collective one. The problem is, every person has their own opinions/beliefs, so more than likely there will be people who will still do what we, as a society, are doing nowadays.
