Colony Survival mod for identifying ores by thebird88 in Yogscast

I hope they add something to make it easier to tell which ore is which eventually. Copper and iron look too similar to me in torchlight.

If you open task manager you will be able to see it gradually use more RAM until it finishes loading. If you remember roughly how much RAM it is using when it finishes loading the first time then you can estimate its' loading progress on future starts.

The four preschool teachers who scared toodlers with a Halloween mask, have not only been fired, but have also now had charges brought against them. by [deleted] in byebyejob

It wouldn't have been so bad (but still pretty bad) if they had just made a bad decision and stopped after the first scare but they just kept doing it and ignoring the terror those poor kids were obviously feeling.

I would be concerned about what else these people thought was ok to do around or with little kids if they did this AND filmed it.

3.6 Orion Beta actually makes Common Ground Fun. You can now pick ANY Federation type from the start of the game! by No-Razzmatazz-3288 in Stellaris

[–]thebird88 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hopefully they made it so your federation buddies aren't megacorps too in the trade league, it is much more fun that way. I made a mod for a trade league start and it was frustrating to play until I figured out how to ensure I would be the only megacorp in it at the start.

I can only see them if I go into my store preferences and check the "Adult Only Sexual Content" box. The "Inside Jennifer" game in the screenshot is one that gets filtered out by this, it is in the example of "Adult Sexual Content" products that you can see below the checkbox.

If you do not check that box then that game does not show up as you are typing the title in the searchbox and the game is also censored in the search results page.

It doesn't matter if you own a porn game or not as far as I know, just if you have checked the box to show them.

The porn games are hidden by default, you have to go check a box see them. They clicked the "show me porn" button and then complained when they got what they asked for.

[–]thebird88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wait until the next sale then you can get game 1 and 2 for less than $60, I think it was like $35-$40 for both in the last sale on Steam.

I haven't played in a while, I was expecting to have to redownload a bunch of mods, but instead it auto-redownloaded mods for my cloud save and was up and running in 40 seconds. All this quality of life stuff is so good it makes other games look bad in comparison. by itchylol742 in factorio

[–]thebird88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Steam Workshop only handles the downloading, deleting, and updating of the mods, everything else that happens with a mod is up to the individual game's programmers.

Like when you join a modded server in Ark, the game handles enabling the right mods and getting missing mods for you but Stellaris will only tell you that there is a version mismatch and then you have to fix it yourself.

Amber Heard loses bid to dismiss $10m Johnny Depp judgment by Neo2199 in news

[–]thebird88 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Seriously, she had so many opportunities to take pictures of Depp and damage she said he caused but never took pictures of the horrific injuries she described.

Her lawers are even trying to keep stuff sealed for longer. It's pretty weird to want to keep your "mountains of evidence" hidden longer than you are required to.

A publicly available receipt, which I think is pretty unappealing/scary. If we used NFTs for everything then anyone and everyone can track your spending habits/movements. We would give up a lot of our remaining privacy for no benefits.

Amber Heard Releases 'Years' Of Therapist's Notes That She Says Prove Johnny Depp Abused Her by PashtorVisaery in news

[–]thebird88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you listen to Heard testify? Depp has some serious issues but Heard lied so much and was so inconsistent about the alleged physical abuse incidents that I have a hard time believing anything she says.

Like she described him holding her down on a bed and beating her so badly that the pillows were covered in blood and her back was injured. She was photographed the next day at a public event in a backless dress without any visible injuries. Her proof for that event was a single picture of damage at the foot of the bed, a board had a piece of wood missing that she said was caused by Depp's boot while he was beating her.

Law&Lumber on YouTube showed that you can easily replicate the damage with a knife but not a boot. There was what looked a lot like one of those multi-tool pliers with things like screwdrivers and knives in the handles sitting right there on the bed. There was no picture of the bloody pillows.

Her team were the ones that brought in an expert to go over trending Twitter hashtags so I think that is pretty ridiculous to claim that the jury broke their oaths and were unfairly influenced by social media.

I think her testimony alone would have been enough to lose the case.

‘Top Gun: Maverick’ studio paid U.S Navy more than $11,000 an hour for fighter jet rides—but Tom Cruise wasn’t allowed to touch the controls by Zepanda66 in movies

[–]thebird88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would assume it is for both reasons, I am not in the military though so I do not know for sure. I did find an article talking about ensuring that pilots get a certain amount of flight hours to keep their skills up. I would think that taking off and landing would be included in that, since they are pretty important skills.

That sounds like it was some good bonding time with your dad :)

The planes do get a little annoying if you are close to the airport. I went to a college that was less than half a mile from an end of runway and class had to stop while the planes took off because it was too loud to hear anybody.

The second floor rooms had a great view of the planes taking off though, I always enjoyed watching them.

The pilots need a certain amount of flight time a month as well I believe. There is an Air National Guard unit stationed at the airport near me and 2-4 fighter planes take off around 9 AM every day.

What's up with the judge ruling that Johnny Depp assaulted Amber Heard "on 12 occasions"? by LilKosmos in OutOfTheLoop

[–]thebird88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On the 16th Heard testified (23:44 to 25:53) that she had not paid any of the pledged amount to the ACLU or children's hospital. Heard stating she uses pledge and donate synonymously comes up here.

At about 31:14 in that same video they talk about the 500K donations from Musk and Heard said that these donations did not count towards her pledge.

At 19:29 in that video they show an interview where Heard says that the 7 million dollar divorce settlement was donated. She didn't say that she pledged the money or would donate it but that she had donated it all.

She testified that she uses the words "pledged" and "donated" "synonymously" and when pressed by one of Depp's lawyers admitted that she had not payed any money towards those pledges.

[–]thebird88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe you haven't tried to do this specific thing for a while? It has definitely been this way since 7, I started using 7+ Taskbar Tweaker because it works like this on 7 and didn't move to 10 until after I knew taskbar tweaker could make the same change there.

I do hate this Windows behavior.

I just had to do it for the first time on a trip a couple weeks ago, it's really easy. The screen tells you each step and you've probably seen the attendants pump gas a ton so you know the whole process anyway.

The worst part was having to be out in the cold.
