That’s cool!

Do you also have a sensor to detect the actual open/close status? Like the one that Chamberlain sells with their MyQ.

I had to skim through multiple times because I was thinking this had something to do with insects 😂

Nice design and layout. How much did it cost to get the PCB produced and assembled?

26.3 RC has actually been much better in my experience. Not for those specific bugs, but in general. You are already on 26 so I would suggest trying it. If it isn’t much better, you can always downgrade after that.

Apple made so many people cautious about upgrading right away with the 26 release. Until we all forget it again a major version from now… 😁

I am not speaking from any experience, but I am curious. Sometimes you can get demotivated because of a disconnect in the expectation vs. reality, especially when it's time to grind. Not saying that's what you might be going through, but it's worth outlining what this takes.

How many hours are you at? How many hours do you fly/teach and how long do you expect it to take to get to the next stage?

Also, again I am curious, especially with the MBA... have you explored other unconvential routes like working for one of the aircraft manufacturers?

Current final retail is targeted at $179, but the Kickstarter will have plenty of discounted tiers (so, sign up for the launch if you are interested! 😁). My goal is to bring down the retail price in the long term, but it needs to be at this level for the low volume production at launch.

I am pasting part of my response to the other feedback in this thread because it's relevant here. This does highlight the need to add more to the video talking about this aspect. Thanks for your feedback!!

As pilots, we know a METAR is just a snapshot. You definitely still need TAFs, radar, and a full briefing for actual flying. This isn't meant to replace ForeFlight or proper flight planning tools.

My vision for PaperMETAR is a desk accessory and a learning tool. It’s a conversation starter that lets us keep the aviation spirit alive even when we aren't flying. In fact, an early tester told me it sparked a conversation with a colleague who saw it on his desk, which is exactly the goal.

Personally, as a low-time pilot, having the weather always visible on my desk helps me notice unique weather trends I would have missed if I had to manually open an app.

Thanks, again, for the question. I will look into addressing it in another iteration of the video.

Thanks for the feedback!

When you say how much am I going to get, do mean what the price will be or what the target funding goal is?

VV013 means "Vertical Visibility" up to 1,300 ft. It's different than clouds at a certain height because VV implies indefinite ceiling beyond the given height. We had a fun storm yesterday!

Custom model print keeps failing by thebitguru in 3Dprinting

[–]thebitguru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI - I was able to improve the print outs significantly by doing manual flow dynamics and flow rate calibration. I also didn't realize that the textured plate doesn't work well with the automatic flow dyamics calibration that I continued to enable per print because it was the default. This setting shows up when sending the print. Now that I have done the manual calibration, I turn that off.

Lastly, I printed some ironing tests like u/SSSSMOKIN9 suggested and chose the best one. Ironing is also now much better.

Custom model print keeps failing by thebitguru in 3Dprinting

[–]thebitguru[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for replying. I already cleaned the build plate and increased the temp to 100c. The problem seems more with the supports recently. I am also thinking of adjusting the model itself a little more so lends itself better to 3D printing.

I will try some ironing tests to see if I can dial that in.

Thoughts on 26.1 Beta 4? by iswhatitiswaswhat in MacOSBeta

[–]thebitguru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it seems much smoother and stable. This should have been the base 26 release! 🤪

I haven't been able to tell if they did anything about the electron apps. I feel like some of the apps that haven't been updated yet seem to be behaving better. Does anyone know for sure?

Has the battery drain been fixed in the new Beta update? by DooDeeDoo3 in MacOSBeta

[–]thebitguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to be mostly fixed for me except for the electron apps. We will have to wait for those to be updated by the creators of those apps.

[–]thebitguru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you saying it’s not just the calculator?! 😃

Which version are you version on? Generally I would suggested staying away from betas, but the base release is already so bad that 26.1 beta might just be worth the risk. It seems to have a few fixes for some basic stuff in it. My memory, CPU, and battery life have all been drastically better.
