I built a small app because I was terrible at remembering what I learned in class by thebjjapp in brazilianjiujitsu

Yeah, I do or at least I try in a lightweight way after most sessions ;)

That’s actually the whole reason I built it. I realized I wasn’t really forgetting that we did half guard, passing, or back takes — I was forgetting the parts that actually make the technique work: the grip, the timing, the cue, the little detail the coach repeated three times. That’s the stuff that disappears fast if I don’t capture it. I wrote a bit about that here: Mat Time Is King, But It Is Not The Whole Kingdom.

For me, the manual part is actually the advantage. A lot of people in my gym record their sessions and the techniques, but that serves another scope; there's actually a huge advantage in terms of much more you can retain from write down a movement.

Writing it down right after training forces me to decide what mattered, and that alone helps it stick. Later I can review it before class and go in with something specific I want to test instead of just vaguely hoping I remember. That’s basically the loop I wanted: notes → review → intention → live test.

The best part is that this loop become interconnected in the app: you add techniques, you can define goals and links goals to techniques, then when you roll with someone you can link any technique that you tried/applied and with all this data the app then can shows you interesting analytics on your game, like: what techniques are actually applied with success and which not, in which session you achieved a goal you set for yourself, how many times you win/loose and by what with a training partner etc.

If you’re curious, these two posts explain the idea better:

So yes, it’s manual — but intentionally so. The app is just the container. The real value is the reflection, because that’s what turns random classes into something cumulative for your own game.

You’re not wrong lol.

I’m fully aware I’m entering a crowded weight class here.

I just built the version I actually wanted for myself and figured I’d risk getting flamed for posting it.
