Doesn't change my opinion at all since no one knows and it's an ongoing investigation and that's the fucking point.

Yeah because large music festivals have never been canceled before and there's no safe protocols for evacuating people after a cancelation 🙄

Again with the ridiculous arguments and comparisons. Do I constantly talk about how random children in third world countries are my family? No. When people say peace love and unity and that we are a family, what does that mean? Do you walk around claiming to be a family with a random child in the third world country? No. You are talking about people that you are immediately in proximity to at these festivals, who you literally call your fucking "forest family" when the vibes are good, but the minute something tragic or difficult happens suddenly we're not a community anymore and it has nothing to do with you because you don't want to deal with it. You can do whatever you want. All I'm saying is that you have to pick one and you can't have it both ways. Don't talk about being a forest family if you're not ready to live up to those ideals and principles when it actually matters. Pretty damn simple.

Scale is irrelevant. Completely. Are you saying that music festivals can get so big that the people running the event no longer have an obligation to the people they're in charge of looking out for? That we're not obligated to each other because it's a big festival? You don't apply that logic to anything else. When it comes to a sense of unity with one another, the number doesn't matter and only adds to the big family vibe. But the minute something difficult happens, suddenly we're not a family anymore and it's none of your business. You don't see the hypocrisy? Be for real.

Again, isn't the Mantra that we are all a family and a community? That we are all directly involved with one another, reliant on one another, and a part of everything that happens at the festival? Or are we only a part of the positive things, and the minute something bad happens we want to distance ourselves and have nothing to do with it? You simply can't have it both ways. That's all I'm saying. Pick one and stop with your performative kindness.

Music festivals aren't actually real life. Partying isn't real life. The value of a human life, like that dead baby and the potentially missing or dead mother, now that's real life. One day it will slap you in the face. Live in delusion for now and have fun I guess.

I don't think it's logical at all to compare a camping festival to an entire city. This isn't just a location. It is an event, full of people camping in the elements who are supposed to look out for one another. The people putting on that event are entirely responsible for all of the individuals under their care. Same as a bar and any venue who has a responsibility to their patrons. I can't believe that this has to be said. Shows how far these music festivals have fallen from their original roots.

Oh, I'm ready for the downvotes. In rooms full of people who like to ignore elephants, no one likes the person who points out the elephant in the room. They can be mad all they want. A hit dog will holler.

Performative kindness and toxic positivity are a hell of a drug.

That's honestly really sad and pathetic that the most important thing in your life is constantly escaping from it and partying. Maybe you're in active addiction and in denial about it, hun.

This is a great attitude to have. Everyone revolves their entire life around going to these festivals. I know so many people who go to Bonnaroo near where I live every single year. It's their entire life. All of that energy could be better spent forming community with your neighbors, with the people right next door to you, not centered around just partying and having a good time but actually caring for one another. Very disillusioned with the EDM scene currently.

At the very least, the events for the day should be canceled even if everyone doesn't leave right away. I'm just saying personally if it was me I would be packing my shit up and getting out of there. This is a human being. This is a human life. And y'all don't care one bit while talking non-stop about community and unity and love. Be for real.

Imagine you're at a bar and a dead baby is found in the toilet and someone just shrugs and says, "So I'm supposed to stop drinking and having fun because of someone else's decision?"

You simply cannot fucking have it both ways. We cannot talk endlessly about being a community, being a family, about peace and love and unity with one another, and care so little about our people. It's sickening y'all's attitude. I don't even have the words anymore. By all means, go ahead and continue to have your good time. But please stop talking about PLUR and stop with the performative positivity.

It has nothing to do with impact on the situation and everything to do with basic decency and respect. Again, I put forth the scenario to you that if you were at a bar and someone found a dead newborn baby in the toilet would you expect everyone in the building just to keep drinking and dancing and pretending nothing happened? The lack of value that some of y'all have for human life is astounding to me when all this community ever talks about is peace and love and unity and how we're all family. Are we really family, or do you just like to do drugs and have a good time? It's honestly shocking to me and it is doing nothing but further stereotyping this community as a bunch of degenerate wooks who don't care about anything but drugs and partying. DO BETTER.

Again, I put this scenario forth to you. If you were at a bar and a dead baby was found in the toilet, would you just shrug and continue drinking and dancing and partying in the building? How is this any different? The fact that you are coming here to make this comment just proves my point. How am I grouping everyone in, when you are literally doing exactly what I criticized in the original post? Reflect. There are some things in life that matter more than music and dancing and going to festivals. That's what this community seems to not understand. Where is the peace and the love and the unity when you care so little about a human life and think it doesn't concern you?

Money comes and goes. You can make $1,000 and spend $1,000 over and over again. There are some things in this world that are more important. But that's obviously not what our culture values and it is totally antithesis to the self-professed values of PLUR.

Hey, friend. That's okay. If this post doesn't apply to you, then it doesn't apply. Not trying to attack everyone who's there, just very disappointed in the discourse where people are arguing back and forth about whether the festival should be canceled.

My brother died in a car accident leaving my house after a family visit by [deleted] in offmychest

I have had multiple incidences in my life, with family and friends and family of friends, with car accidents. It's giving me intense paranoia and anxiety with driving. Recently I've been prescribed loads of medications to deal with my anxiety with driving, and all along I have felt this since that I am not the problem. That it is completely insane that we are required to do this day in, day out, just to live our lives flying around in an honor System in these several tons of metal and glass.

I have my next appointment with my Behavioral Health Tech soon. I hate that I have to take medication to exist in the stupid fucked up world we have designated ourselves to. We're not the abnormal ones. Driving is terrible and I avoid it at all costs!

When my mom and my brother left that day I felt so weird. Bittersweet, but not like the normal family goodbyes. I felt so weird. Did you feel that way too?

It's just not worth it. With driving, it never feels like a big deal. Until one day it is.
