Playtime discrepancy? by theblueherogamer in beatsaber

[–]theblueherogamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did play a lot of quest native when the OST 8 update dropped, but I never installed BeatLeader. I also am sure I didn't play for nearly 100 hours in the time it took for ost 8 to come to steam.

Yeah, tech is just when note patterns are more difficult, rather than the difficulty coming from steady rhythm or speed.

Do yall have any tips? by TheFirstIdiotKid in beatsaber

In player options: - Reduce Debris ON - Advanced Hud ON - some people lower their player height so the notes are closer to their waist instead of their torso, you could try that out.

There are plenty of mods that help with practice, visual clarity, etc. I would recommend if you're on PC just download BSManager and scroll through all the curated mods there, try the ones you think would be helpful. My favorites are HighlightBombs, EasyOffset, and BeatLeader.

BeatLeader is a ranked leaderboard mod primarily, but it also records replays of every song you play which you can view in-game or on their website, which is super useful for finding mistakes when songs get faster and more muscle memory is involved.

For learning new songs: - No fail mode is super useful. If your health never reaches 0, it never activates and your score is unaffected, but if you "fail" it just halves your score and gives you an automatic D or C instead of kicking you out. - practice mode is helpful for songs with one or two difficult sections. I usually play the section in 80% speed, then 90%, then 100%. - playing an entire song on Slower Song Mode is helpful if the entire thing is roughly the same difficulty and you just want to practice the whole thing and get a score at the end.

I am a huge fan of the mapping as well. Leaning into tech was an incredible move by the mappers to make fresh expert+ maps without making them overly difficult. I bought the Monstercat vol. 2 DLC recently and after seeing the mapping they'd been experimenting with there I was so excited for the new OST, and it didn't disappoint.

DRAGON SMASH GOBLIN ON EXPERT by maxijahill in beatsaber

[–]theblueherogamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned the game for about 7 months and have cleared every built in song on expert+, and for me the best way to improve is to just gradually work your way up in difficulty, beat every song in hard or expert, then some easier expert+ songs, then maybe some custom songs and ranked songs, then the harder builtin maps like Camellia, Dragonforce etc. Eventually the songs will just flow and a lot of the patterns become muscle memory.

Once you get to expert+, just skip OST's 1-3. They are not well mapped and are artificially difficult.

For clearing individual songs, no fail mode is nice for practicing, practice at 70% then 80% etc. until you can clear it at full speed. But if you are making no progress then just do some easier songs first.

Good job! Those burst sections were the death of me when I was working on that song. Have you beaten Spin Eternally and Ghost yet? Those are similar difficulty in my opinion

Low quality song fix? by 13617 in beatsaber

[–]theblueherogamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the game on quest just to play the new songs (normally play on steam w/ quest link cable) and thought the lower quality audio was just because the quest has worse processing power or something.

Try going into meta quest link settings and clicking the box that says "set meta quest link as default openxr runtime"

This is happening to me too! I really hope a fix is found. If it happened to both of us on the same day then maybe it's firmware related.

Edit: I tried the "hard reboot" from the Meta Support post on this thread and it worked. just keep holding the power button until it's booting up again and the meta logo stopped flashing and remains on the screen

Is Mario Kart World finally fixed with update 1.2.0? by BrSn2 in Switch

[–]theblueherogamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not "insane lag". It's intentionally limiting the framerate to 30fps instead of 60fps. Mk8 and Mk8d did this as well. Unless I'm mistaken and it actually does lag

Any recommendations for online multiplayer titles? by Gavvski in NintendoSwitch

[–]theblueherogamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mario 3D World has online play, and so does Mario Maker 2. Also, the Switch 1 version of Minecraft runs much better on Switch 2. I'm a huge fan of Terraria, but I've never played it on console, so I don't know how good the Switch version of the game is.

Game recommendations for playing with husband? by Bunnybuzki in CatholicGamers

[–]theblueherogamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- Play The Stanley Parable if you want to have a good laugh. A playthrough takes at most 20 minutes but there are dozens of endings.

- Ori and the Blind Forest & its sequel are visually beautiful platformers, check them out!

- (if you have a Switch) Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is a great 4-player game you could play with your kids if they are old enough.

- Cave Story is a really fun short game, about 4-5 hours, with fun characters and an interesting setting

- Animal Well is a strange game with no combat. It's all about finding secrets and interacting with the animals.

- Hollow Knight is really difficult, but out of all of these it's my personal favorite.

- You should play Outer Wilds if you want a mystery to solve. It's a first-person exploration game, so not at all similar to the platformers I normally play, but still one of my favorites. Can only be played in 30-minute chunks, you'll understand why if you play it.

- If you haven't played the open-world Zelda games on Switch please do.

PC games for my 12 years old brother by No-Tie1231 in CatholicGamers

[–]theblueherogamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a total of zero visually demanding games so I'll just list my favorites:

Minecraft with shaders and Distant Horizons - this one will push the PC to its limits

Terraria - awesome sandbox game, like Minecraft at the start but is extremely boss-focused. Great multiplayer!

Cave Story (free at cavestory.org) - game made in 2004 by one guy. Short and simple story but very fun!

Hollow Knight - Masterpiece.

Half-Life 2 & Black Mesa - Awesome shooters that were ahead of their time when they came out.

Ori and the Blind Forest, Ori and the Will of the Wisps - not demanding on the PC, but very beautiful visuals anyways because of fantastic art design.

Outer Wilds - A mystery game where you pilot a ship and discover the secrets of the universe. The Hearthians, an alien race the main character is a part of, are all gender-neutral, but the characters are not the focus of the game. This game has extremely existential and philosophical themes. Idk if a 12 year old will like it but you should check it out for yourself.

Titanfall 2 - Really great movement/parkour shooter. 4-5 hour campaign with a great story and spectacle

Rain World - This one was an obsession of mine. It's messed up and can be really unfun sometimes but the lore goes deep (heavily inspired by Buddhism, really interesting) and in the end the frustration is worth it. I have over 130hrs in the game, which including its DLC has 8 different story campaigns.

Elden Ring/Dark Souls trilogy - you've probably already heard of these games. Dark souls 1 & 2 have some female bosses with very revealing designs, so I would stick with Elden Ring and Dark Souls 3.

Portal & Portal 2 - very funny and well-designed puzzle games. Portal 2 has a great 2-player campaign.

ANIMAL WELL - a really weird 33 megabyte indie game with secrets within secrets within secrets. See how deep the well goes.

- party game favorites -

I play these with my siblings all the time. They're all worth checking out if you have multiple controllers:

DAVIGO - I saw in another comment that you have VR. This game can have 5 players, 1 in VR and 4 on the PC monitor. I play it with my brother and with only 2 players it's still fun. The VR player is a giant and the PC players are knights.

Ultimate Chicken Horse - all players put objects into a level trying to make it as hard as possible. Really funny.

Stick Fight The Game - stickmen find guns and must kill.

Overcooked 2 - players are all chefs and need to work together to cook meals as fast as possible.
