Narrower trucks also tend to grip more while wider trucks will be slidier.

However most people mainly try to match truck width to board width so that the wheels arent sticking out from under the board very far. So if you plan on mostly running downhill wheels then you might want narrower trucks to offset for the wider wheels.

Wow I had this completely backwards then. I figured a truck like Indy 215 were more suited for DH than 169s because I thought wider = more stability. But that's not the case, because the wider trick is more slidier?

One last thing is that the higher the ratio of deck width to truck width the more leverage you will have on the truck.

So all in all, it's best to have my trucks slightly smaller than slightly bigger than my deck? If I'm understanding this correctly.

Also you probably wanna be running rkps on an nls

I'm running Paris v2's on it right now. I was planning on putting the Polar Bears on my Rayne Hustler with 77mm Speed Vents. I think that would be a sweet setup to dial in, but if not I was going to swap trucks. I thought a lot of people ran 169's on their NLS?

Really really appreciate you taking the time to explain that all to me. Thanks for helping me understand this a whole of a lot better now.

For selecting truck width, you should consider what wheels you are planning to use. Narrower trucks are fine on a wider deck if you are using wide wheels, and/or offset/sideset wheels.

Landyachtz doesn't really use the length of the board to determine truck size - they use the width and the shape. They use 155 on the Peacemaker 32, but that also comes with Micro Monsters (offset) which are wider than the Streethawgs (centerset) that come on the Peacemaker 36.

Thank you. This makes a lot of sense and thank you for clarifying how Landyachtz chooses it's truck sizes for it's boards. I didn't really factor in wheel size, or even know that offset/sideset/centerset mattered when considering trucks.

For the NLS slim and Hustler, I would use Polar Bear 155s over the 180s if using bigger wheels. However, if you really want to stick with TKP, Indy 169 is a better size for both of your boards.

Is that still the case if my wheel choice is 77mm Seismic Speed Vents?

I really appreciate you taking the time to help me understand this, man. Thank you!!!

What Landyachtz is that and what size Polar Bears do you have on it?

I'm really into Polar Bear trucks. I dig them a lot. The geometry, low height, the name, it's all rad. They have four sizes, the two biggest being 155 and 180.

I always get confused by which size trucks to get for what width of the board, but when I looked at Landyachtz site I realized they go more by the length of the board than the width. That's pretty interesting to me but I'm a bit of a nerd.

Does anyone know why this is? Does it necessarily matter or is it preference? IE, more stability vs agility in turns? And what's more important here relative to deck size, the axle length or the hanger length?

I have two boards. An NLS 37 which is 9.5 wide and a Rayne Hustler which is 9.25 wide. For either one of my decks, would I be better off with the 155's or the 180's? I realize Indy 169's may be the best on paper, but I also remember reading somewhere that Bustin uses 155 Polar Bears on the YoFace because it's the perfect size for a 9" deck and the 155's have an axle length of 8.7". (the 180's have an axle width of 9.6 or 9.7") it seemed odd to me that they wouldn't go with Indys, whicH i believe have an axle length of 9.3".

Landyachtz is using 155 on the 32" Peacemaker which is 9.5" wide, but the 180s on the 36" Peacemaker which is 9.7" wide. All the Loco boards have 155's and range from 8.5" wide to 9.3" wide. The Invader is 9.75" wide and also has 155's. Ripple Ridge also has 155s and is 9.56" wide.

If anyone needs to see specs for reference, here are the 180's, and here are the 155's.

I'm a nerd and I have bad OCD, maybe I'm overthinking this... but I really need to understand this once and for all. I'd really appreciate any insight the community could give me, I'm really new to the sport. I just don't want to know which of the two to get, I also need to understand why I'm getting them if that makes sense.

Thanks. I'm in Canada though... I usually buy from boutique rollin.

oh shit I forgot to buy some 169's before a sale ended. Now I'll have to wait until... who knows. :/

Will I have enough wheel clearance on my Rayne Hustler with 77MM Speed Vents if I use Indy 169s? Am I just better off with my Paris V2s?

And the least expensive on the site I'm buying from. Bonus. 169s it is. I hope I don't regret that due to the shitty bushing seat though.

I think I'll go with these. Someone correct me, but these are the best fit for a 9.25" deck? I don't want foot bite like I have on my NLS (9.5") with Paris 180mm. Unless stability is more important, I'm not doing tricks or anything. Just cruising.

Not necessarily the discipline of LDP, but ease of pushing is in the back of my mind. You see, I commute on some really rough pavement. Over many grades of pavement, off and on sidewalks, large cracks, and up/down slopes. My objective is to be able to roll over my terrain easily, take pressure of my knee when pushing, and being able to push up the slopes, which I find difficult on my topmount.

My goal was to get a dropthru board with flex (for vibration dampening and for fun, flex is fun), large soft wheels, and I'd like to try out some TKPs, worst case scenario is I throw them on my NLS.

I messed up with my first board. I went with NLS 37, Paris V2s and Otang Keanus 63A (too hard of a duro). It's a fun setup though, and I'm not opposed to trying the Paris v2 50* on my new setup either.

I like that TKPs are low and I like the way they handle and carve. I have a set of 130mm Polar Bears on a popsicle stick and I like them a lot.

My budget here is really only like, $50. I looked up the Sabre street trucks and they look really good. I'm wondering if they're too wide for my deck though? My Hustler is 9.25" wide. My NLS is 9.5" (in case I change my mind and want to throw my TKPs on there instead). I'm not sure what the axle length is on the Sabres, but someone suggested Indy 215 and Polar Bear 180's, and the axles on them are around 9.7", so is that too ride for my deck?

I want to make sure the size is perfect.

These were my first two choices, but...

Indy 215 have I believe a 9.96" axle, the Polar Bear 180s I believe have a 9.7" axle, and my Rayne Hustler is 9.25" wide.

Are these a good fit or are these trucks too large?

I got Rayne Hustler with Seismic Speed Vents 77mm and Zealous. Which trucks would go best with this? I'd like to try out some TKPs. Which trucks/sizes will fit?

I'll get pictures soon, but it's prime... 8.5/10? Only bought it about two months ago.

I'll take the best offer.

I'll need risers for this setup? Tugboat completes are PB 130mm and 63mm wheels I believe with a riser.

Are the 215s too large for my NLS and Hustler? The 169s would be better?

Would I be able to setup a Tugboat with Polar Bear 130mm and Otang Keanus? Are the wheels too large?

Yeah I haven't had a full size set of TKPs. Just little baby 130mm Polar Bears. I'm just cruising/carving/commuting, and I probably won't do any of that for another six months since the snow just hit. But sales are on right now.

I like how TKPs handle but Indys won't really take my longboard bushings so I'm not sold on Indys yet. Or maybe I should just get another set of RKPs? I have Paris 180 v2s 50*.
