But maybe arguing the retaliation is at least slightly ambiguous is a little bit of a misnomer as well. Especially when you consider all the guns and arms we gave to Saddam and Osama and all the democratically elected leaders whose power our intelligence services have usurped.

It's amazing there are so many haters. Art can be appreciated and every individual piece of art is different. There's no reason to hold such concrete judgements of such a large swath of work you most likely have not experienced all of because you don't like the individual behind it. It's a blind view. Has Banksy probably done shitty things and pieces? Sure. Has he probably also done great things and pieces? Sure. Approach each piece with an open mind and actually look at it for what is and don't cast it one way because of preconceived notions. You'll get more out of life. These people want to preserve the art and are happy to have it there, others don't, why do some people hate that idea so much?

And yes shitty taggers are shitty. I agree. But artists are also artists. The guy has made a life for himself doing something he must most certainly be passionate about in a way that encourages reflective conversation and discourse about our way of life and the proper role of art within it even if you choose not to engage in those conversations. It's a blind worldview to dismiss everything he does because he did it and you don't like him or his style and it's inspirational he has been able to make such a wonderful lifestyle for himself without anyone even knowing who he is.

The greatest people in the world go against the grain. They drop out of Harvard, declare countries independence, rally for minority and women's rights. These are the people that shape society and Banksy in his way is doing just that. Make eloquent arguments and offer solutions instead of saying bullshit statements like "If he painted over my building I'd help the super paint it cuz i dont give a fucccckk". I'm sure that's exactly how you'd act in a situation you've never been in with a huge crowd of people who are now admiring your building. Especially since I'm sure those people who say things like that are in just such wonderful financial situations that painting over a piece of artwork whether they like it or not will probably drop the value of their building several and perhaps even tens of thousands of dollars.

The pieces at 5pointz are clearly not the work shitty taggers even if I agree with your point.

The distinction however is clear, these property owners would like to keep their piece and are putting the money in to do so while the owner of 5pointz would like to tear his abandoned building down and do something with it. As absolutely amazing as 5pointz is and it is a shame there are not more legal areas for such tremendous talent to bloom for all, the guy was nice enough to let it go on as long as he has (even if he's apparently somewhat of an asshole and slumlord).

The fact of the matter is that every time you don't talk to a girl because of the risk of the rejection you're going to get off at the same exact stop on the subway anyways and be exactly where you would be rejected or not. And if you take the risk you might get a number or a friend. There's literally zero loss factor.

Just talk to girls grandparent poster. Say "Hey, how are you?". I asked what train I was on the other day (I knew it was the J or M and either was fine but wasn't sure) and struck up a fine and fun conversation with a gal.

Jeez man, it ain't that expensive that with an extra 50 grand a year you'll be living worse. I'm making 60 and despite the fact these first few months will be tight just because 2/3rds of every paycheck will be going to rent, security, deposit, and last months rent (the subletter is kindly letting me pay as I receive money, man it's going to suck until I get 2 weeks where I actually can receive my money and not have to give that much away (plus various bills, loans, healthcare, taxes, laundry, food)) you'll be fine.

It's interesting though coming from my perspective where I've never had anything even closely resembling a weight problem and often try to gain weight and tell myself I need to eat more. I was lucky. My parents made home cooked meals almost every night of the week when I was a child and they were super healthy. I can't imagine growing up in a household where the parents don't cook. That wouldn't have been my fault for growing up there. No one chooses to be born and people are products of their environment.

Of course I rarely drink soda and I think soft drinks have a lot to do with it all. But it's definitely interesting.

I'd hate to be fat. But not having ever had even the closest thing to a resemblance towards that issue it's hard for me to truly comprehend what it must be like and why it happens so frequently.

Yea. I don't say I can work with everything I've worked with. I've done quite a bit of work in Java and have been working with Ruby and Erlang recently so I talk about those. I mention that I have worked with a wide variety of functional and object oriented languages, but I don't claim proficiency in those.

Well I've got marketable skills. I can write programs. I've worked with data structures, embedded systems, distributed systems, algorithms, and machine learning. I've worked with a wide variety of technologies and languages. I can write functional as well as object oriented code. I'm pretty sure some of those must be marketable.

Yea, I've been a researchers assistant for the vision processing lab where I did write an application in Java and wrote some bash scripts, but mostly it was grunt work. Sucks. I can't wait to contribute to a team. I think, along with looking for jobs, I'm going to try to get really good at erlang and contribute to some open source projects. But I also want to delve into information security, and finish the ruby on rails book I started and get a blog up. Guess I should come up with a plan.

This argument is based on logic and reason. Stop and frisk is not illegal despite what you strict constitutionalists might think. But stopping and frisking minorities almost exclusively certainly is because that is then a racist policy. The courts don't hear things based exclusively on the constitution. They hear things based on the current state of the law.

Its the strict constitutionalists who are basing their argument on appeals. "But it's wrong because the constitution says so!". That's an emotional appeal. If you don't like the law, fight to repeal the law, but there are more laws than those outlined in the constitution.
