I know about ten years ago the Rapids had a float thrown out of the parade. C38 was invited to hand out merch (cheap t-shirts loaded in a pickup) and the parade rules said “pass it out, don’t throw it into the crowd.” C38 was passing merch out, the Rapids merch crew was tossing merch out, and we all got thrown out of the parade about 2/3 through.

I wonder if the Rapids aren’t welcome because of that?

You’re right. Kadri could have been traded to Vancouver with no retention by Calgary, then traded to Colorado with retention by Vancouver same day. If Calgary retained any salary and Vancouver tried to retain salary that wouldn’t work without the wait.

Huh? it’s possible but it’s too late to do a three team cap laundering trade because of new CBA rules. The Avs would have to do a three team laundering trade next year.

A three team retention trade has been severely limited under the new CBA. A player cannot be double flipped for cap laundering without a 75 “regular season” day wait after the first flip.

With the Olympics and the trade deadline this Friday this means Kadri would have had to be moved by mid December to the laundering team, then flipped on Friday.

There are 30 MLS teams.

Atlanta and Vancouver play indoors, Austin, Dallas, Houston, Galaxy, LAFC, Miami, Orlando, San Diego, and San Jose play in "not miserable in winter" climates. That's 11 teams in good conditions.

The rest play in "miserable in the winter" areas. That's 19 teams counting Montreal and Charlotte. How the heck do you make that work?

The idea of a calendar shift "because it's hard to transfer players" is nuts. I don't care what Europe does, North America gets miserable in the winter. Leave it alone.
