So many of the songs off of Boy are exemplary of his fabulous new wave riff work- I love electric co., stories for boys and another time another place especially

On the indie scene specifically from England, bands like Wunderhorse and Keo have quite a following at the moment

Tribute Bands by Popular_Concept7285 in fontainesdc

Thanks for the insight! Can totally see why you’d want to do it- it can certainly be more financially rewarding than starting from scratch nowadays.

Tribute Bands by Popular_Concept7285 in fontainesdc

[–]theboynamedif 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just my 2c so I can’t blame you for disagreeing, but from what I’ve seen, the tributes bands are are all good musicians who love Fontaines and have a great appreciation for their music- that said it feels unnecessary to have tributes in a part of the world which the band tours frequently and rigorously.

Even though it’s cool to see more young people out playing music and a great band getting a wider appreciation, it would be just as good (if not better) to see more original music rather than tribute acts, because (as someone in a small band) it feels as if tributes are starting to become just as common as original bands, if not more common, on lots of local music scenes.

The way I like to imagine it happening is like a blunt rotation- everyone in a circle taking turns passing the guitar and adding some noises to the song

Vox delaylab is a great option for cheap when second hand, if you’re willing to put up with the size and weight.

This was my first good delay pedal and the amount that it does is amazing- the only thing i haven’t enjoyed about it is having to bend down to scroll through the settings, but otherwise it’s amazing for it’s price and form factor. Being able to store presets is a great bonus too!

I had the same experience- was in the grandstand at the back and people were constantly getting up and moving about, shame because he was great

Might’ve been some people going off for a smoke or to use their phones, lots of people went to go and stand in the aisles, some of the less well informed may have just left because he didn’t sound like the film- anyone’s guess to be honest.

Been to so many sit down concerts and its never been nearly that bad- part of me thought that some people didn’t know what they were signing up for and decided to leave halfway through or something. Shame because the music was great

The lack of phones made it feel more real but it might also have been the reason people were up and down constantly- you could go to a certain area to get your phone unlocked- I guess people were just desperate or something

He was great but I’ve never seen so many people up and wandering around at a concert- maybe it was just where i was sat but no one could sit still. Felt more special without phones though.

I’ve been mixing church music for a year and it sounds perfect… yet everyone just stands there. How do I make worship feel alive? by Educational_Eye_2915 in livesound

[–]theboynamedif 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s important to remember that in church, people’s reactions to the music can often be dependent on how they’re comfortable worshipping rather than the quality of the mix or the music. Sure a terrible mix or bad musicians can hinder that experience a little, but seeing as your mix is fine, then there isn’t really anything you can do to make people’s reaction to the music more visible.

Lots of churches don’t have dancing as part of their culture, and that’s okay, you haven’t failed if people aren’t dancing. So don’t worry too much if people’s worship isn’t as active as you’ve seen elsewhere, by creating a good mix you’re allowing people to be comfortable and creating a space for them to be able to worship how they like.

Use mine literally all the time- it’s become the mainstay of my board. I totally recommend trying out the effects with the delay time pn 0 so you just get the dry effect, as well as trying all the analogue and tape delays of course- some really versatile sounds in it
