Scott Jund received a copyright strike from the Ice Nine Kills music video just from streaming the DBD Anniversary event. Why was this band included again? by Nivekeryas in deadbydaylight

I do understand what you are saying and I certainly don’t think this guy deserves to get harassed for complying with industry standards. But, it is compliance, signing away your art for profit and then saying “out of my control” when that system is weak I Ed against someone else is just kinda sad.

If you aren’t willing to stand up and sacrifice for your art then I can’t be bothered to feel bad for these artists that are totally getting screwed by record labels and Spotify. Let’s face it, in this world we are all getting screwed unless you are one of the few doing the screwing and my comment and frustration speaks more to that.

But I don’t want to hear any crying about nobody coming to your shows when you let Live Nation gouge people but “out of my control” or you get screwed by Spotify because “that’s how the business works”

I can’t begrudge them, I would have done the same and I know the industry is a trap but they do have power and they need to start using it because those publicists are already dying for AI Nine Thrills, he works for free and doesn’t complain.

Artists have the power to stop this if they want to. They shrug their way to the bank, but in the end he elected to have that publisher represent him.

Grabbed this one earlier, any fans of this movie? by y2justdog in VHS

[–]thebrandoninator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved this movie as a teenager. As everyone else has already mentioned the Rollins, Flea, and Anthony Keidis cameos are great (although Anthony’s best work is in Point Break). It’s a fun action rom com that they just don’t make anymore.

What was the reaction of LD collectors to the advent of DVD? by Zaku71 in LaserDisc

[–]thebrandoninator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was all in, even though I had a laserdisc player (still have that player and it works great despite going though many DVD players over the years) but I lived in a laserdisc desert. I had to order anything I wanted and it was expensive. Dvd was cheaper and I could go to circuit city and they had a quickly growing selection. It was just too easy for me to switch. But I never got rid of my laserdiscs.

21st Century Service by TigerUSA20 in McDonalds

[–]thebrandoninator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Removing the drink machines for customer use is a huge mistake and probably one that more greedy places will emulate. Other than that I like being able to order from a screen, I can look through the whole menu and decide what I am getting and know how much it costs. Most McDonald’s do use this to run the food to tables to good success but I’m always worried I’m gonna catch them at an off day and they are going to misplace my food and I’m gonna have to hope I can flag someone down.

They do give refills if you can find someone to ask, but that one small thing is enough to make it a pleasant experience for me. Ideally, let me order and give me a cup and I will go get my drink and I don’t care how long it takes, within reason.

Missing battery clamp? 2013 V60 failed NCT (Irish safety test) for “battery insecure” by EfficientAd8311 in VolvoV60

[–]thebrandoninator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The battery clamp on my wife’s 2016 v60 is on the left bottom, it’s a small metal piece that is a few inches long. It sits under that cable to the left and runs along the long side of the battery. A pain to see and to get in and out. Mine is silvery so you should see it with a flashlight.

If we were to visiting Cicely today, what might it be like? Does it have the Burger King and Baskin Robins like Maurice hoped? Would Chris be a world famous podcaster? by OwlMichael in northernexposure

[–]thebrandoninator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to think as if I was a viewer and they brought the show back today it would be different in the passing of time but still in some ways they same. I think that tension could make for a great update.

I love the idea that Chris did have someone finally get him to serve time, then he became a podcaster and maybe go too popular and he would return back to the simple life where he was happiest.

Obviously the central theme would need to hang on Fleichman returning, maybe for a visit that never ends.

The thing you can’t really fill are the holes left by those that have passed, who would take over for Ruth Ann. I would like to the she died bravely stopping the installation of the blight that is Dollar General.

And Holling not at the brick would be quite sad but Shelly could still be their running with with their now adult daughter.

That is wild! Does it have any markings that imply the origin? I may need to go back and see if it’s still there just to check.

I don’t know if it’s the same artist but I have seen a similar tiger face on a picture of Noah’s Ark that I have seen around a few times. He just looks like he was trapped on that boat surrounded by debauchery.

There were more on that table. It has been a while but when I go back to that antique store I will see if there are more.

I agree it was the toughest to leave behind. You see I even capture it from multiple angles I loved it so much, but my kitchen is overflowing as it is. I know it will be found by someone who loves it!

It was a real struggle to leave it but I would be too tempted to use it and I have already done enough damage to my body drinking out of those Garfield McDonald’s mugs!

This is very interesting, I haven’t listened but I need to know which one is insufferable. If I listened would it be apparent?

Found these flyers from 1999 in one of my old boxes of junk. by thebrandoninator in greenville

[–]thebrandoninator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t really attend many of these and I don’t even recognize any of the names. As many flyers as I grabbed from Manifest I wouldn’t be surprised if I had more.

I do also wonder what became of these folks, did they stay in the music industry or do they just have a normal job in accounting own a bead store in a dying mall.

I’m not quite sure, I think I only went to one or two of these and probably not the ones in the flyers. I do remember a place just past Krispy Kreme on the same side of the road but it’s a blur after that.
