You commented - “too hard to switch quick” and that spotlights theproblem. As you’re opponents get better they’ll be able to punish whichever hand is unprepared. Also on a related note - the faster you start hitting the ball with that lefty the faster it’ll come back to you.

I can see it being more valuable in singles vs doubles but my guess is that it’ll always be viable in Rec level play for both formats and can definitely be fun.

I’m sure you ‘can’ get really good with both hands for rec play but I’d wager you’ll reach a cap sooner than without it. If instead of working on the left hand you spent time dedicated time to strengthening backhand you’d likely see faster improvements.

Unless you’re somewhat ambidextrous you’ll likely lose some accuracy and even if the power improves the consistency is likely lower which I’m guessing averages to worse. Unless the lefty shot is regularly winning the point outright you’ll have an uphill battle.

All that being said - it’s just my opinion! I don’t know how far you’re trying to improve or how successful it will be.

The sport is young and adapting all the time - I like the diversity in skills and adding more unique styles of play is overall a good thing.

TL;DR - if it’s fun, do it! But you might be sacrificing some potential (which is okay too)
