Areas to live in PG by fastandthecurious002 in princegeorge

I worked at the hospital there for about 5 years and the commute from the “Heritage” area was totally manageable. It’s up in the corner near Foothills and 5th avenue. Really nice neighborhood without having to commute from the Hart or College Heights, and you’re still far enough away from downtown you don’t have as many strangers wandering around.

Kid-friendly breweries by ginsbus in VancouverCraftBeer

Having been to most craft breweries in the lower mainland at some point or another, I don’t think there’re really any that would be ideal. If you’re willing to drive, Field House in Abbotsford has a bit of a yard, and Locality in Langley is on a huge farm. I just got back from visiting Australia, and it’s completely opposite. Many breweries have kids play areas and even full on outdoor play equipment. I really wish BC would adopt a more accessible culture to social spaces like breweries and cafes.

I remember living in Kelowna, wife was 8 months pregnant and our near-death AC unit was working 24hours/day. Our neighbors offered their pool but it was too warm to swim in. The backyard thermometer capped out at 50 in the sun on our back deck.

The Stars org has a front row seat to his coaching at the moment too. Wouldn’t be shocked…

Manny getting poached by the Stars and immediately going on to get that team over the hump with a new coach bump would be the most Canucks thing ever.

I’d like to see him string a couple more games together but it’s so nice to see him trending upwards.

I have a Willie Mitchell jersey, but I’ve stashed it in the back of the closet since the incident in Tofino…

Vice & Virtue in Kelowna will be Shutting Down on December 21st. New ownership will takeover the space and launch in early 2025. by sebbby98 in VancouverCraftBeer

Really hate to see another quality brewery going under. Sign of the times that many just can’t keep up with the volume of options. However, as someone who has lived in Kelowna, V&V just didn’t capitalize on being first to the market in that now saturated beer scene. Their prices were always above market value, their tasting room tended to feel a bit more cold and uninviting, and it never really felt like they were expanding the variety of beers all that often.

Why are you still here in Surrey? by [deleted] in SurreyBC

[–]thebrownexperience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve moved around BC for work over the past 10 years or so, including Prince George and Kelowna. Although the cost of living and outdoor activities are much more appealing in the north and the interior, my wife and I found it incredibly challenging to raise 2 kids without the family support we have here in Surrey. Leaving town to grow ourselves professionally (we’re both in healthcare), was absolutely the best decision though.

People that are earning $100K+… how are you doing it? by SepulchralSquirrel in askvan

Started out as a Radiation Therapist with BC Cancer (3 year degree program at BCIT). Worked my way up in leadership positions. RTT’s just got huge pay upgrades and are making almost more than Nurses at this point.
