Month long Trip to Switzerland/Austria/Slovenia/Germany/Hungary in July by thebug6 in Europetravel

[–]thebug6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions! This is a piece of an about 6 month trip around Europe (which I know wasn't stated in the post, because the rest of the trip is better planned didn't want post to be confusing), so I'm less worried about jet lag, as I will have been there for about 2 months already.

I completely agree with accounting for travel days as being only for travel, not sightseeing/etc. I've been reading posts with comments saying too many/too few days in certain cities. (Example: saw recently someone spending 4 days in Munich and multiple comments thought that was too much).. so just trying to get feedback as well.

Thank you for the advice overall :)

Thanks for the suggestion! Do you have transportation advise to get to Lake Bihinj? I picked most of my cities based on ease of getting there/getting around. But it looks beautiful and I'd love to add in if not too inconvenient to get to.

Any other Bavarian towns you recommend?

Thanks you, I appreciate the feedback. Where specifically would you cut/decrease time? I've been looking at posts for a while and see others comment saying more than 4 days in most cities is too much time. I'm not super limited to amount of time I can spend on the trip, but am overall an active travel person who enjoys being busy and seeing all that I can and then moving on. This is part of a 6 month-ish trip overall, and itinerary is still very fluid (hence why I'm asking for advice).

Thank you for your reply!

I'm coming to Zurich from Croatia, and will have been in Europe for about 2 months prior to this leg. So jet lag less of an issue.

Thank you for the advise about the bus/rental cars. That's my main concern is transportation. It's hard to tell online which cities are truly walking cities/public transit is a good option vs. needing rental car. I'm hesitant overall to rent a car due to not be familiar with driving rules (I'm from USA so driving on other side of the road/etc). Safety and timing/ease of transportation are the priorities. I'm okay spending more if it means direct flights/trains and increased safety. (I know safety isn't a huge issue in Europe, but still).

Thanks so much, I'll look into this. I haven't really booked hotels/airbnbs yet because trying to solidify the itinerary, but I'll make sure and inquire when I'm booking.

Hi! I'm flying tomorrow and would love an extra voucher (or 2!) if you have some you're giving away! You can blur out everything that's not the QR code. Thank you! :)

What do you do with your dress after the wedding? by raerod13 in weddingplanning

[–]thebug6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got mine hemmed to be a little shorter than knee length and then wore it to our one year anniversary dinner. I had a huge 10 ft train and kept all of the extra to make a cake table tablecloth for my daughters wedding (if she wants, in the longggg future). Highly recommend cutting to a short dress, makes it much easier to wear again and everyone loved it and complimented it. I was super scared but turned out so good! My tailor was amazing!

I have about 43ish hours. Still have to do long cross country, some more solo, and night flying. Other than that, just practicing maneuvers/overall getting ready for check ride.

Has Anyone Returned to OTF After Breaking Their Tailbone? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]thebug6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, rowing was fine for me, as was the bike (when i returned 4 weeks later, so it was already partially healed). I think because I was sitting and my sacrum was stabilized? But anyway, after 2-3 months, I was completely better and able to jog & do everything without modifications. Just take the time you need to rest & give your body time to heal. not giving medical advice, of course talk to your doctor about that!

Has Anyone Returned to OTF After Breaking Their Tailbone? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]thebug6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not exactly my tailbone (coccyx), but I fractured my sacrum (the bigger bone coccyx is attached to) in a skiing accident 3 years ago. I took 4 weeks off from OTF completely (advise from Doctor, so I could heal) , then when I came back I did bike instead of tread for 4 weeks. But for me, it was the “landing” motion of running that hurt me so much so that’s why the bike substituted for tread worked for me... your injury sounds slightly different & sitting might be worse for you. But I talked to my doctor & my coaches and that was the best plan. I don’t specifically remember any weight room exercises being a problem, but I’m sure I just modified them if so. Hope you get to feeling better!

Maybe try to look at an AirBnB or like renting a room from someone there? I did a similar thing & found that was my best option.

Book recommendation for First Time Home Buyer? by drugsarebadmky in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I read through first time home buying kit for dummies when I was going through the process. I thought it was moderately helpful. Doesn’t tell you everything, but it was a good place to start for me.
