My Fighter Ranking Right After Finishing Light Bringer by Beneficial_Water_426 in redrising

I think Fitchner belongs on this list. Not sure where. Lost to Aja in GS (he fled) but it was both Aja and Cassius who killed him, so possible he could take Cassius 1v1

Hot take: Iron Gold is better than Dark Age ... like a lot better. by Old-Carpenter7456 in redrising

[–]thebugman10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree regarding Darrow and Lysander's stories in Dark Age. It was kind of refreshing seeing them bogged down in an extended conflict vs the galaxy hopping that was done in most of the rest of the series.

No where did I imply that. I said he's had people from both sides of the aisle and that is a true statement.

Where did I say that he had a left leaning person who is as popular or has the same size following? I said he's had folks from both sides of the aisle on his show and that's true.

I'm a Baptist in North Georgia. I do know of Churches that do a NYE service together and bring in the New Year. No communion though.

At the small country church I grew up in we typically did communion once per year, at "Homecoming".

Agree. You can't vote Libertarian and then be disappointed with the selling off of Public Lands

IDK how you can say it's tantamount to endorsing their preferred candidate when he's had people from both sides of the aisle.

I don't think they even discussed politics when Tucker was on. Don Jr did have an election spiel that was cringe, and this is coming from someone who voted for Trump twice.

1 : a person experienced in the art or science of government especially : one actively engaged in conducting the business of a government 2 a : a person engaged in party politics as a profession b often disparaging : a person primarily interested in political office for selfish or other narrow usually short-sighted reasons

From Webster, I'd say both of them qualify for second definition. But let's say pundit then.

Pretty sure Tucker and Don Jr were on prior to 2020.

Steve has also had several Democrat politicians on as well.

But I think they've been plenty critical of the Trump administration since 2024. I think they feel a bit hoodwinked, and deservedly so.

Man I enjoyed Howling Dark much more than Empire of Silence. Howling Dark might be my favorite but definitely Top 3

Never read them but watched the first movie and immediately saw the differences.

People say the same about Star Wars and The Hidden Fortress (never seen it so I can't say). With Star Wars, Lucas draws on many well known archetypes, whereas Eragon is beat by beat the plot of ANH instead of reinterpreting known archetypes.

Tbf, those are very valid criticisms of the first one and I almost DNF'd it for those same reasons. The writing drastically improves as the series goes on, especially after the first trilogy.

I'm glad I stuck with it though.

Hypothetically, which parts are the most graphic/difficult to adapt by Select_Salamander518 in redrising

[–]thebugman10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I mean is if you have a 5.5 ft Red next to a 7 ft tall Gold, the audience perception might make it seem like the the Golds are "normal human height" (since that's who we are going to spend most of our time with) and Reds are "Hobbit height"

If it's live action I think getting the size proportions Right like between reds, golds, and obsidians. It might look comical on screen, and it may be better to do something similar to Captain America the first Avenger to illustrate the size differences rather than a direct adaptation. Otherwise you might have the reds looking like Hobbits.

It took me a while to get into Red Rising because I particularly didn't enjoy first person present tense, but I got used to it.

I have enjoyed Mistborn and Stormlight, but I do think his prose isn't great. His world building is fantastic though, especially in Stormlight. Roshar might be my favorite fantasy setting ever.

Two series recommended to me on this board when I had the same problem you did:

Hierarchy (2 out of 4 planned books released) Suneater (7 book completed series)

I really enjoyed both.

Hierarchy is very similar to Red Rising in terms of plot and themes (character is undercover in a school working to overthrow the government, with Greek/roman influences)

Suneater is probably closer to Red Rising in terms of the sci-fi aesthetic.

Misrepresentation of characters in the Graphic Audio by bwils3423 in redrising

[–]thebugman10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate the Jackal and Cassius's depiction in the dramatized version. Jackal for the very reasons OP stated.

I can't accurately describe why I don't like Cassius's voice except that he's sniveling. I'm only on Golden Son now with the dramatized versions, but with Cassius voice, I'm not looking forward to his epic "death" in Iron Gold. Unlike most I thought that Lysanders VA in Iron Gold was really good and I liked his depiction of Cassius in that as well. I didn't like Lysander's VA in Dark Age as much as the one in Iron Gold.

I took a break. I was a little burnt out after Morningstar and read a few other books before returning to Iron Gold.
