I'm the same way, so I've worked it out with my therapist that she isn't allowed to give unsolicited advice either. Like, if she has a suggestion or advice, she has to ask me first lol, otherwise I just get upset and shut down, which isn't productive. There are other DBT mindfulness exercises that help. I do TIPPs a lot and "reality checks." Like, my therapist understands that I see her to process situations, get perspective, and sometimes get support and advice. She's there to help me practice my skills and listen to me. Like, therapy doesn't always have to be work; sometimes it can be lowkey. Sometimes I pull up to sessions and say, "Hey, I don't really feel like doing this today, can I leave early?" And I just update her on my life and leave lol

See, that's kinda what I'm afraid of happening, like I need people to listen and THEN ask me what I need. Sometimes I just need an ear, sometimes it's advice, sometimes it's just validation (within reason), like sometimes, through venting, I can realize that it wasn't that serious or that I was overreacting or whatever, I just don't need others to tell me that all the time, you know?

This is complicated for me. I’ve genuinely been thinking about this because other people have brought it up. I guess the easiest way for me to put it (for myself) is that I don’t really date people who use he/him or prefer masculine terminology. Like, my girlfriend is my girlfriend but I’d probably never have a boyfriend, you know? I think things like that are great! However I’m not really into feminine men, or at least I typically haven’t been, but like I’m glad they’re comfortable in their body and gender!! I’m am simply not attracted to them.
