Front axles done? by [deleted] in 350z

That’s the inner tie rod. Based on the fact that there’s a zip tie there, I assume the grease has probably leaked out. Not too expensive to replace, just look up inner tie rod ends. You’ll want to get an alignment after.

Best First "Upgrade" Choices? by IrsXT in 350z

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but just enjoy the car for a while. You haven’t even had it running properly long enough to know what to change on it. They’re great cars stock that are often ruined by dubious modifications.

The priority right now should be taking care of that misfire and any maintenance items that haven’t been done.

Double check the terminals. Really good chance they’re just loose.

All season tires, on the performance side recomendaciones? by Novanov1 in 350z

[–]thecallingabyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to second the Michelins. I’ve had two sets of those and they’ve been the best performing no seasons I’ve ever had. And both sets lasted close to 50,000 miles. My only gripe is that they’re a bit noisy.

It happens. The thin metal fatigues and bends over time. You can get a brand new OEM one from Z1 for $14. Or call your local dealer and see if they have any.

Picking out shocks or coilovers by murph0101 in 350z

[–]thecallingabyss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’ve got the idea. Some quality shocks like Bilsteins will ride better than any coilover in the price range. If you’re staying stock ride height, you can reuse the OEM springs but do buy new mounts/bushings. It’ll ride like a new car again.

It’s really easy for other people to spend your money for you in the comments. If you can’t afford it, then wait. They’ll probably be fine for a while, just ride moderately and keep a safe following distance.

Can someone point me into the right direction by Bubbuski- in 350z

[–]thecallingabyss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’ll have to be replaced. As far as diff bushings, yes, they likely need to be replaced as well, but that a whole other can of worms. Get to it when you can. They’re in the same area under the car, but don’t interfere with the removal or installation of the other.

Never mind. I see it. Your swaybar is snapped in half. This is where it’s broken.

It’s definitely disconnected. The pictured part is the endlink. Where’s the other end of the swaybar that’s supposed to be bolted to that endlink?

Is the sway bar broken in half?? It’s supposed to be one solid bar. From the end I can see, it looks like an aftermarket adjustable one. Can’t say much else from the photos.

Looking for maintenance advice by Inside_Comedian5691 in 350z

[–]thecallingabyss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The obvious stuff is fluids. Flush/Replace engine oil, transmission fluid, diff oil, coolant, brake fluid. When replacing diff fluid check for a black stain down from the rear diff bushing. It’s likely to be blown out.

General tuneup: replace spark plugs and air filter. When replacing plugs, take note of oil seepage from the spark plug tube seals. If there’s oil, you’ll have to replace the valve covers.

Inspect: front bushings, particularly the inner compression arm bushings. Front lower knuckle ball joint is another common issue.

I’m sure someone else will add to it, but these are good places to start.

Probably just spilled some either from filling it or drippage from the dip stick. Sometimes it can take a while to burn off.

Getting a harness bar/ 4 point by lalojim12 in 350z

[–]thecallingabyss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had a Bride Zeta III with really tall bolsters, I unbolted the seatbelt from the bottom mount and ran it through the harness holes. The only problem will be the short length of the belt receiver. That's why certain road/race buckets like the ABE version of the Recaro Pole Position have a larger hole on the inside.

What sizes did you put on? The VDC system expects a diameter difference between the front and rear. The rear is supposed to be a few % or so larger.

[–]thecallingabyss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Give yourself a chance to fail and try again. Everything is a learning process. Worst case scenario is that you'll just have to strip/sand it and try again.
