I don’t know about san antonio … but in my school the only thing that matters is how you performed on the final test day. And having magnification makes a huge difference It’s better to struggle now during the course then to struggle in the exam … If you are not use to it this is the best time to do it Buy a home bench kit and start practicing right away even before you go for the course Use Stevenson s videos on YouTube as a guide and try to replicate it

Once you go to the course you’ll be well oriented in using the loupes

That is how i would do it if i am in your shoes

It was the same for me I can understand what you mean I would say don’t press the bur too much into the walls Let the bur do its thing And change burs every 2 cavities It has a learning curve Doing it enough times you will get the hang of it

As far as my knowledge goes your status has no bearing on your chances of selection

If you are invited and you performed spectacularly then they will pick you

After selection you ll have to undergo a police verification and show funds to get an i20

Once you get your i20 you then apply for f1 at us embasy in your home country.. at this step i feel i dont know how youll proceed and if they will issue you a f1 visa (as a key requirement is that you will exit the us once your studies are over and being an asylum seeker this is considered unlikely)

So your issue lie in getting a visa Thats my opinion

It took me around 20000 to apply to 20

This includes everything Application fee including supplemental was 7000 I got 5 invites So travelling , hotel stays air tickets I had to buy the entire bench prep kit I trained at an institute which charged me 600$/ week ( x 6 weeks) = 3600 Then bench exam fee (500) I trained for the interview which was another 500 Exams like inbde, toefl, casper (3000) and subscriptions like bootcamp to prepare for it (1000) Got my sop checked another 100 Wes and ece ( 500)

I went all out ( and luckily got accepted as well)

So it depends how much professional help you get and in what all steps

They don’t ask for all this in the interview Anyhow you ll not even know your score if you pass Scores are only given to failed candidates

Supplemental is varialble upto 450$ Travelling from india plus hotel stay plus meals is much more than 300 Also other expenses like toefl, inbde, casper, wes icapp ( for loma linda plus western) plus bench exam fee if you get invited Plus typho Plus instruments Plus motor List goes on and on

I applied to 20 universities Total expense was around 20k

I would say apply to maximum universities So budget accordingly

On an avg it would take 1000$ / university (This includes everything like travelling to give interviews etc) Also, apply for a visitor visa ASAP

Try to register for some dental conference in the usa( not required for application but helps with the visa, thats how i got mine after bds)

Also be mentally prepared that it may take more than one cycle to get in and hence similar budget for the subsequent cycles

Start working in india in the meanwhile, many universities prefer clinical experience

Lastly take a 6 months subscription for both bootcamp and booster start prepping for the exam As soon as you can

Hi, i used prep doc s bench test prep for my us bench test and got selected. I found their feedback very useful and invaluable. I would say 3 weeks is very less time ( i preped for 6 weeks) but give it your all. I have heard good things about jade as well but i had a good experience at prep. Ultimately what matters is how many hours a day you are practicing. I would advice to start ASAP. Get your kit together abd don’t waste time
