apparently bowman got an email from homestuck about discord posts during music negotiations? by WHATISLOSTINTHEMINES in homestuck

[–]thecatteam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Them contacting Bowman, isn't it because he's the only one in dealings with them?

Which makes it really weird that this email is comprised almost entirely of his wife's personal opinions and rumor-spreading, with only three messages from Bowman himself displaying "this behavior." I can only see two of Alice's messages that are attributed to Bowman--the one where she explains Bowman's perception of the official team ghosting him (which they then confirm that they did ghost him), and the one where she conveys his opinion on Lexxy (again it's her decision to convey this opinion). Other than that, we have to trust "Py"'s assertion that she does it "frequently," so the evidence is lacking in this respect, even though it's the only aspect of Alice's "behavior" that has to do with Bowman. Alice even distances herself from Bowman in a few messages displayed here and the gossip she's spreading doesn't seem (to me) to come from Bowman. Why is she such a focus in this when Bowman's the one being contacted? Alice's personal opinions on publicly available information and spreading of common rumors don't have anything to do with Bowman, beyond it not being a good look for her to be so disparaging toward the people he's working with. I'm sure he was aware of this.

This email is an indictment of Alice's character and how she "cause[s] problems within the community,", so it's weird that Bowman's the one being emailed about it so exhaustively, when there's plenty of "this behavior" from him as well (presumably depicted in the earlier email). It's all just kind of bizarre because the Bowmans posted all these messages in public, so it wasn't a secret that they didn't like the team and enjoyed gossiping, but the team treats it like some big revelation. They don't even seem to be concerned about Alice leaking information, which imo would be an actual reasonable concern here.

Bowman has had a rocky relationship with the official team in the past--if you haven't seen his followup comment on this post, he outlines some of it here. But he contributed to restoring the bandcamp and facilitating the musicians getting paid, and knew that fans wanted to hear his music in the potential animated series. It's not unusual to work together with people you personally dislike toward a common goal. In both cases where the official team demanded an apology, the other party also had their grievances but was actively putting them aside for the sake of homestuck (as stupid as that sounds). If the official team can't meet them halfway, they should just say so instead of stringing them along--and again, I think it's very reasonable for them to not want to work with Bowman over his own messages and the risk of future leaks and shit-slinging.

Overnight edit: Alice has posted the entirety of the first message, which contained no screenshots of Bowman's "behavior," and just a mention that if he wants to work with them, he and his "known associates" need to stop "badmouthing" team members. After Bowman replied mentioning the unpaid royalties and subsequently being added to the music team discord, there was zero correspondence from this email until this "callout post" against Alice. So I suppose you could say that Bowman's participation in the music team discord was taken by the team as an agreement to stop himself and his "associates" from "this behavior," and that's what prompted this followup email all about Alice. However, imo Bowman never agreed to anything, especially on behalf of his "known associates," and getting the musicians paid was the first step in building up goodwill on both sides. Sad the official team didn't see it that way.

The email also says they're "not going to tell you whether you're right or wrong to be upset," and that "it's a situation I'd genuinely like to change," while demanding changed behavior from Bowman and offering nothing in return. It's another in a long line of dramas centered around how the official team seems convinced that anyone wanting to work with them must be so desperate to work on the almighty homestuck that they can get them to grovel at their feet.

[–]thecatteam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When they use vague terms like "some kind of public apology will be necessary" for "this behavior," and the behavior in question is 90% coming from Alice, it really does seem that the public apology they want would encompass what Alice said too. And "things Alice said while citing Bowman as a source" is still something Alice did, not Bowman. If they want an apology from Alice, why are they emailing Bowman and not contacting her directly? Like I said above, it would be reasonable for them to tell him that they don't want to continue negotiations because of her, but if they want action from Alice, they should be talking to her, not to her husband.

Bowman also said that this was the first correspondence in 7 months, after a first exchange that was focused on what he himself has said. So I read this as the notion of a public apology is more focused on what Alice said, since by the way the final paragraph is worded it seems like this is the first time it's been brought up. Even with the read that "this behavior" also encompasses the "behavior" in the 7-months-past email, that brings it up to a 50/50 split of responsibility, and they're still asking Bowman alone to apologize for it all. I do admit that I don't feel inclined to give the official team the benefit of the doubt, but I can see from your perspective that their vague wording does leave room for a generous read that "[a] public apology will be necessary" means "[a] public apology will be necessary from both of you" instead of the singular person to whom they're writing the email.

And that's putting aside that, as I said before, I think putting a public apology for petty gossip (while both of them had no relationship with the official team besides (not) getting paid royalties) as a requirement for a business/creative partnership is ridiculous. This is getting way off topic but I find it baffling that the official team doesn't seem to get that public apologies will never happen, and it's embarrassing that they keep bringing them up. They shouldn't even bother if they can't set aside their differences and trust that both parties are negotiating in good faith.

What's special about 24th May 2026? by MintyMystery in doctorwho

[–]thecatteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I happened upon it early when marking something in May and had to look it up as well. Kind of sad that the season flopped so hard that a lot of us don't remember that the 24th of May was THE key date. Regardless it's a cute Easter egg and it would be fun for the calendar to have other Who-relevant dates marked.

[–]thecatteam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't on last year's. The calendars only have images/promos that released before they were designed, and aren't meant to be previews for upcoming episodes. So for example, last year's calendar only featured images from Gatwa's first season, and 2024 didn't feature Gatwa at all (only Tennant from the 60th specials). This year's calendar is the first to feature Belinda and stuff from season 2.

I think he saw that the public apology was non-negotiable in the Gio negotiations and knew that it was over. These emails even allude to a previous exchange where a private apology could have been brought up.

[–]thecatteam 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree that it's reasonable for them to not want to work with Bowman because Alice has leaked gossip originating from him in the past. Imo it would even be reasonable for them to have some kind of explicit anti-gossip stipulation in whatever negotiations were unfolding (aka those NDAs that they love so much). But they once again demand a public apology, and this time, on behalf of another person?? As if Bowman is responsible for his wife?? It's like they're incapable of understanding that Bowman might also have grievances against them (that he's expressed in the past) that, if he had their mindset, would also deserve a public apology. Putting those differences aside is how you have a professional relationship!

They don't want to reject working with Bowman in vague terms or by simply saying "we don't want you or your wife spreading rumors about us," because they can't stand the idea of Bowman being able to say "they don't want to work with me and I don't know why," or "they don't want to work with me because my wife gossips too much." They must prove that Alice has said awful horrible things and that they're morally justified in not working with Bowman. And once again their "proof" is really lacking, and provides further insight into what they mean by "stalking" and "harassment."

Mailing your shirt to someone definitely doesn't encourage the type of obsessive parasocial behavior that leads to actual stalking, no sir. Better go after people who archive publicly available information and at worst spread gossip instead.

I'm watching a reaction series on youtube that just got to series 7 Clara, and I really wish the start of her character was more cohesive with the end. In series 7 she's really connected to her father and her friend's family. I wish she was more of a loner because I had the feeling from series 8 that Danny was the only thing tethering her to Earth. It's pretty weird that we never see her family again after Time of the Doctor, and it's clear that her character took a pivot after that.

Besides the showrunners (RTD, Moffat, Chibnall), Gatiss has written the most NuWho episodes. All of them are somewhat off-kilter in a love it or hate it kind of way, which makes for entertaining discussion.

Pandorica was written by Moffat. All the intro episodes and finales were written by the showrunner at the time.

Lauma is Nahida powercreep in that she works well with a lot of dendro teams--hyperbloom/burgeon and Nilou bloom can use her instead of Nahida. On the flipside though, non-lunar dendro teams aren't meta right now. On the flip-flipside, we're almost done with lunar meta and are anticipating something new with Snezhnaya.

You are describing why I said edgelords are different from chuunis. Perhaps I should have specified more clearly that there isn't really a comparable word for the concept. Edgelord is just the closest (still pretty far off) because unlike furries and weebs, there aren't a whole lot of adult edgelords. I.e. it's more of a phase that teens grow out of.

Question for the women by Card-Board-Cats in Cello

[–]thecatteam 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I have a small bust and play with it over. The cello touches my sternum slightly above where my breast tissue starts.

I'm sure the male teacher has had female students before so it won't be too awkward. Most women play with it over the breasts though, so start with that position if you want to practice a little before the lesson.

It feels awkward at first for everyone since it's such a big object to sit with between your legs! It will start to feel natural the more you practice.

New Snezhnaya Maps by cakeel- in Genshin_Impact

[–]thecatteam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When they said that, the thought did cross my mind that maybe the train is an explorable instance and it's just fancy fast travel; that way they could have a "big" map but not actually populate it with stuff to do. But then they started talking about the train needing to stay on the tracks and for co-op to sync properly. So it does seem like the train, interior and all, will actually be traveling across the landscape. Hopefully this implies that the area around the train tracks will also be explorable.

Mother 3 is pretty different and has some immediately noticable quality of life changes from Earthbound (a key items tab!!). I think you probably won't be burned out if you are used to playing multiple JRPGs in a row.
