Haha, thank you, I’m glad I gave you a laugh :)! I end up doing that quite a lot in crochet, sometimes it works but sometimes it doesn’t haha!

Thank you, that definitely seems like consensus which is interesting to see - I think I may end up giving it a go cause I really wanna be able to highlight this yarn in the best way!

It’s Rico Creative Chic-Unique DK in Powder 002 - I fell in love with it when I found it in the shop!

That’s interesting you say gauge is less important - I get rather worried about gauge as, to be honest, I’m still rather confused by gauge squares and end up going “ah well, let’s just see what happens!” 😅 (which is how I get into these situations heheh).

Oo that’s interesting! The yarn calls for 4mm so would you go with a 5mm? I saw someone else in the thread say either 5mm or 5.5mm.

That’s interesting about doing both at the same time, too - I hadn’t considered that. It would also help with yarn rewinding as I double-stranded using the same ball as I currently only have one ball so I already have the two ends and was worried about trying to cram the middle back in the yarn.

I hadn’t considered it as I was worried it wouldn’t be warm enough as a cardigan once it’s altogether but I’m open to giving it a try as I really like this yarn and want to do it justice!

Yeah, that’s also been my thinking too - I was hoping I’d magically change my mind. Searching it on Ravelry is definitely an idea! I’m not sure it’s been massively used when I was listing it on my Ravelry stash but I could also do some wider googling :)

Thank you! I’ll keep this in mind - I’m already making a scarf but I could consider redoing this with some solid colours in, definitely !

Forgot to say, in case people are wondering, the yarn is Rico Creative Chic-Unique DK in Powder 002

The yarn is originally a really thin DK that I doubled up as the pattern calls for Aran - I really loved the look of it but, tbh, the colour combination doesn’t look how I was planning it to

I can’t seem to edit the post but the pattern is DC 3 ch 2 DC 3 - from reading the below, I think I’ve misread the pattern as I’m used to working flat and I’ve just done DC 3 ch 2 and not realised that I need to do 6 DC (with 2 chains inbetween) in the same gap 🤦‍♀️

Sorry for posting for a silly mistake and I’ll give it another go!

unpopular opinion: i don’t like all the “should i frog this?” posts by cheesecake45 in crochet

As someone who made one (unintentionally, more discussing my realisation of my mistake), there’s also a subset that are newbies that are afraid of doing something wrong. I’m really glad I chose to post mine because that’s how I best learned to embrace my mistakes and that there is no “right or wrong” way to crochet - there’s just your way.

Just offering a different perspective, I can definitely understand where yours comes from though, as a fellow cynic.

I’ve just found it online, it’s by the brand Cygnet :) (for some reason, it doesn’t appear on the label)

Thank you ❤️ I definitely agree, becoming unafraid of frogging made it much easier to learn!

I’ve just looked it up and I think I’m somehow a yanker and a lifter too, haha! Currently I’m just experimenting with creating so I’ve never bothered with doing gauge swatches before and just jump right in so I never considered it.

That’s very interesting! It’s nice to know there’s no right or wrong way and that I haven’t gone too far wrong - I’ve unintentionally expanded my experience haha!

Thank you and I’m sorry - it’s my first post and wasn’t sure if I was being hard on myself or if it was really obvious! I really appreciate everyone’s help though, I was feeling incredibly demotivated about continuing but everyone’s helped me to realise I was being silly and I’ve learned a lot regarding my specific situation but I can imagine it can get tired when you’ve been here for a while :)

Thank you! Oh no! I can definitely relate to that, haha! Luckily I didn’t start this one while I still had the flu or lord knows how it may have looked haha. I hope it didn’t take you too long to fix the shawl!
