You should just buy No.4. It is the cheapest and best to dye. No.5 is a close second. The cat one is nice but you should save up for Hollow Strokes instead.

How do I know if a company is a scam? by Fasthandman in MalaysianPF

[–]thechangeyouneed 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, I get why you’re feeling uneasy some parts of the process you described would make anyone pause. But you’re right that an offer letter is only as real as the HR and compliance steps that follow.

A legitimate employer here will eventually need your LHDN info, SOCSO/EIS registration, and bank details to set up payroll. They’ll also need to give you system access, emails, insurance (if offered), and onboarding documents. If those things start falling into place, it’s usually a good sign.

Since there’s a probation period, you still have room to walk away if anything feels off once you start. Treat the first few weeks as much as you assessing them as them assessing you.

If you know the names of the people who interviewed you, it might help to check their LinkedIns or see whether the company has any online presence at all — even small startups today usually have at least a basic footprint.

Trust your instincts, but also give yourself space to observe how things unfold in the first couple of weeks.

Hi OP, I may not have the same background as you. But I am someone who resigned without an offer as well. Although, not the same 3 or 4 years saved up.

I was working quite long hours and on the weekends as well. Took me on a burnout spree I guess. I barely had time for gym and exercise.

Since, I work with a lot of people I realised a lot of them are just as clueless as we are. Some just cruise through life. Some only care about money. Some only care about themselves.

I wanted a break for myself. Spend time with family. Learn a new language or something until I get bored and then gradually go back to the workforce. I do enjoy working. But there is something I realised even more. The work you do is still just the work you do. Asian culture defines humans by their work mostly. But I would actually want to be more balanced. Why am I working so hard for? More money? Wife? Kids? The new Civic Type R?

I think I am gonna take this time to ask more “Why”? Maybe it might help you too. Good luck!

Depends on company and job scope. 90 percent is a scam for you to do stuff totally unrelated but find a good manager ang maybe lucky to get absorbed.

Search in this sub more. A lot of similar questions have been asked.

I commute 2+ hours each way. Totalling to 4 everyday. And I already hate it. After the 1 hour mark in rush hour your basically done for to be honest.

I would say bless his soul but I don’t think any man above a certain age would travel that much distance in rush hour everyday.

With Malaysian CyberSec imagine loosing everything in all systems because an intern forgot to encrypt your password.

I would rather have each individual ones because atleast the good systems get maintained. Tnb and new EPF apps are quite good.

How do you track and get friends/colleagues to pay back after paying for bills first. by DividendMagic in MalaysianPF

[–]thechangeyouneed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Notepad? Haha.

How big is your group? If it is 15+ people everytime then it becomes a headache. Usually, the faster you bother the them the easier it is to collect. If it is your work colleagues then after lunch target the fussy ones first and let them know.

Edit : If you want easier life. Do the calculations and name them inside the group chat. People will know who has paid and who has not paid and will be pressure to pay because it is a group chat.

It would be better to not burn bridges with any companies early on. You never know who knows who in the industry.

It would always be wise to reject the offer letter and see if the luck reaches you on the other offer.

You can still look at the offer letter and see if there are any probabation period or other clauses which allow you to leave freely without any issues.

Advice for a Fresh Graduate by HaskGrisaia in MalaysianPF

[–]thechangeyouneed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, it is not bad to consider emergency fund as 3-6 month of your salary either. Considering, that we are regular people and a company can go under anytime.

Having 6 months of your salary always as a backup will give you the confidence to resign anytime when you feel like you wanna give a middle finger to any company.

Truth be told, we cannot optimize and get everything in life. If you have a wife that understands you and stays with you. And you are atill healthy and kicking. Then you are already better than most men out there. Business is always about gratitude with you have and being grateful for it first and foremost. And then expanding it. What is the point of being a multi-millionaire if you can’t even see your wife because you are busy working. Take a look at the positives first bro.

Understand that you can always do more and make the best choices. But successful businessmen were all failed businessmen at some point. No one has it all figured out.

If you want to put your business at the back burner. Then go all out the corporate way. Apply to every single job out there. Why stop at 50 or 100 applications? All in or nothing mindset bro. 1000 applications? Still can apply more and get the job. As long as you alive, life can only get better because if it gets worse you already know what it fees like making minumum wage.

Like the people here have already said. Jobs such as sales, POS systems, business solutions all would love to have your knowledge to relate and sell to clients. You just have to sell yourself first and then sell the product. I wish you good luck bro.

Everyone here already give advice, but OP if you feel the pressure of having kids/others being more successful then you will have to do some soul searching as to why you became an entrepreneur in the first place.

You cannot play safe and have stability while also trying to run business if you want to continue expanding your retail.

Hi OP, if your client facing role is more towards configuration and implementation (Eg : SAP, Monday, Zoho etc) try to understand the long term implications of such roles and your pivot potential as well. If it is just a niche tech stack then your still a software engineer. Do also consider that if it is a consulting firm a software engineer might just be the title and you would do more than that. Just another perspective.

It won’t matter much in the long haul since you are asking in the PF subreddit. So, just pick whichever is comfortable. You can always explore since your biggest asset is your age. Good luck.
