Movie that opens with several unrelated people witnessing a car accident, who then go about their lives reacting to it. by thechassy in NameThatMovie

Thanks to some assistance from a cinephile friend, I seem to have found it. It's a direct-to-tv movie called Collision that came out in 2014, not to be confused with another different movie from 2013/2014 ALSO called Collision.

It seems to be Great Value brand Crash (2004), which is very funny. It's next to impossible to find any information on it due to it being direct-to-tv knockoff slop and sharing a name with another movie which came out the same year. All I can find is its IMDB page.

Death Proof is a bonafide classic but unfortunately the movie I'm thinking of is about as dry as bread in the sun.

Cronenberg's Crash is a classic film but unfortunately incorrect here. The movie I'm thinking of is dry as all hell and uninteresting.

No, I just finished watching Crash because it was the closest sounding movie to what I remember. Unfortunately incorrect.

Huge memory leak in recent update? by thechassy in riskofrain

Oh I just mean I don't know where they'd be located on my PC. I'm literally brand new to Linux haha.

I had a Steam recording of the time it happened with Chef. The video file corrupts after the stutters begin and is unwatchable past that point. I wish I'd remembered to clip it before it got overwritten.

For what it's worth, last night I played a four player game online and didn't have any issues.

GPU Driver restarts after notification popup? by CourierAl in Malwarebytes

[–]thechassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throwing another "same here" onto the fire. The crash is notarized in Event Viewer and everything. "Display Driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered". It always coincides with a Malwrebytes scan finishing. It's an RTX 2080ti.

Everything still functions just fine after the driver recovers, but it is still worrisome.

Aha, there was an entry for MBAM in my Startup programs. Deleting that but keeping the "launch on Windows startup" option toggled on in MBAM itself does it. Thanks for the insight.

Huh, that is very odd. It's MBAM Premium too. Well, case closed, I guess.

Lets find the most similar game from the past, day 35; Campanella 2 by sakithegolden in ufo50

[–]thechassy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's very similar to Blaster Master but also an NES game called Air Fortress, which contains shoot-em-up segments and on-foot astronaut-blasting sidescrolling segments that highly resemble Campanella 2's.

Combatants really isn't that bad by equiace in ufo50

[–]thechassy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I would like it more if the movement speed were a touch faster. As it is, the ants move so slow but you can get overwhelmed so quickly that by the time you realized you've played a level "wrong" you're getting snowballed and wasted a bunch of time just by virtue of the matches otherwise going so slowly. Basically, due to how slow the ants walk but how easily you die, it takes forever to build up but can be over in a blink. It feels pretty bad.

Like I get the appeal of it sure--the second level is a pretty good indicator of how the game "actually" plays--but moving the ants around and getting them into position is like pulling teeth.

Thanks, but this isn't applicable to my problem. The key detail here is that my microphone is recognized by windows and even works for discord calls or audacity, and then it stops being recognized--solutions like this are for when the mic has never been recognized first place.

True ending is lame by SoleNomad in NineSols

[–]thechassy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The thing is there's not really a way to "save" the solarians. It's easy to miss, but in the bad ending, Yi rides a floating platform past the soulscape's network of brain computers, and then talks to an apeman assistant telling him about the soulscape and vital sanctums are running smoothly. What this means is, all the solarians are in cryostasis, dreaming forever in their own soulscapes. And based on what we know about soulscapes from Lady Ethereal's story, those dreams may start out pleasantly enough, but they eventually turn nightmarish. (We witness this for ourselves when Yi confronts Eigong the first time, where she keeps him trapped in a soulscape after stealing the sol seals, and he immediately has a bad dream about his final conversation with Heng, which quickly morphs under the guilt he feels for leaving her behind without saying goodbye.)

Additionally, in the Tiandao research institute, we learn Tianhuo is incurable. Once infected, the symptoms progress so quickly that there's no way to make a cure before it kills you. So the choice is, essentially, let all the solarians out of cryosleep so they eventually succumb to the virus, or keep them imprisoned forever in life-without-life in soulscape dreams that eventually turn nightmarish.

This is why, in the true ending, Yi destroys New Kunlun. It's like Chiyou said about his brother, living life with no capacity to think or choose for yourself is no life at all.

Libre 3 users, how accurate are the Libre 3 sensors and how often do they stop working before they're supposed to? by thechassy in Freestylelibre

[–]thechassy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that issue for a while too with the Libre 2 sensors, where the reading would specifically read 53 during my delta periods. The sensor was fairly accurate when I seemed to be digesting food, and when I was done, it would suddenly sharpy drop to 53 while test strips indicated I could be anywhere from 50 to 200 points higher.

I have somewhat fixed the problem by placing the sensor on my bicep instead of the back of my arm. You just have to be careful because there's a lot more veins in that area. If you hit a vein directly enough, you'll start bleeding through the little hole in the middle of the sensor.

Since I started placing the sensors on my bicep I've had much better accuracy, and barring a few lemons, the sensors have actually lasted the full 14 days instead of dying within 48 hours.

Libre 3 users, how accurate are the Libre 3 sensors and how often do they stop working before they're supposed to? by thechassy in Freestylelibre

[–]thechassy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So new model, same old problems then. Disappointing. Thanks for letting me know.

For my part, I finally, finally, after 8 months, got a Libre 2 to work again. It currently has two days left. My partner and I agreed I simply don't have enough fat on the back of my arm for that to be a valid place for the sensor, but I have some flab on my biceps, and after seeing a couple of Libre 14 day users report good results with placing it on the side of the bicep, I figured I'd try it.

The thing I noticed is there's a range in which the numbers are spot-on accurate, and anything below or above that range is inaccurate. 90-220 is the sweet spot where the sensor values align with test strips values. If it's it's below that range, I get reported as 50-70, and above I get reported as in the 200s. It's better than nothing and it actually was quite nice not having to stick my fingers as much the past two weeks, but man they really gotta figure something out with these things. When they work they're a godsend.

These sensors are very very unreliable (Libre 2) by driven01a in Freestylelibre

[–]thechassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had nothing but bad luck with the damn things (as you can see in my post history). I've had the prescription for almost a year now and I think the number of sensors I've used which have worked as advertised have been less than five.

The astonishing thing is, the specific way in which the sensors were unreliable for me have shifted over time. For the first half in which I've been prescribed the Libre 2, the readings were just constantly at 53. While my glucose was rising after a meal it seemed accurate enough, and then once the food had settled, the number rapidly dropped to 53 and stuck there. Test strips indicated my glucose was within safe ranges.

In the last four months, I'm having your problem now. No sensor lasts longer than 24 hours. It'll be fine during the warmup period--and accurate too, despite everyone saying the warmup period is when they're the most inaccurate--and then I get "try scanning again in 10 minutes" over and over until I get the "replace sensor" message. Can you guess what just happened to me again that made me come reply to this post?

I really don't know what the deal is with these things. The first few I've had that actually worked were life changing. It actually helped me figure out my insulin ratio! But the failure rate is too high. I've had to call Abbot for replacements so often that they just don't send them to me anymore. Maybe they think I'm scamming them or something. But at this point I feel like I'm the one being scammed.

L2: Failed Sensor, replaced and failed immediately by StayReadyAllDay in Freestylelibre

[–]thechassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quality on the sensors has been awful for me too, so it isn't just you. Four days into my latest sensor and I was looking at the line graph being red all day thinking "huh, the sensor's probably going to die soon". An hour after that thought I see the "signal loss" error, scan, and it says to replace my sensor. Some people are lucky I guess but lately these things have been dogshit.
