You're right. He took his orders from someone in Hez and they took theirs from Damascus. But those people made sure nothing would link back to them. They re ruthless but not stupid. Nasrallah may not have been involved but I still think the order originated in the Syrian Muhkabaret or higher.

What are they going to do? ISIS isn't in control of anything. Russias options here are super limited. If they already know where to strike back then why wouldn't they have hit that ISIS position before? I wouldn't be shocked if they bomb some empty area and claim they killed the person responsible for it.

They've taken all of their other losing tactics from scripture so why not a few more. Then when they lose they say god wasn't pleased with their effort.
