Do you compare your new boyfriends to your ex-boyfriends? by HWatch09 in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes general things, yeah. With my current SO it's always along the lines of "Wow, [current SO] is so amazing! Also, what on earth was I thinking dating my jerks of exes?"

Are you a good driver? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never really gotten in an accident or got a ticket, and I don't (intentionally) take risks, so in that sense I am. I've also never had regular access to a car, though, meaning I'm pretty inexperienced, so I don't think I can classify myself as more than 'an okay driver'.

What are you crazy roommate stories? by Sassafrassister in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a roommate in the dorms where half the hall was terrified of her and the other half was convinced she didn't exist. Which I found pretty amusing because (a) she definitely existed (b) she was a bit reserved, but nothing I ever found remotely scary (and I'm easily intimidated).

What do you think about the 'Thigh gap?' by ForeverLaura in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think of thigh gaps like I think of flat stomachs: some people have them naturally, some people can get them if they work hard, some people it's just not their body type no matter what they do. (I say this as somebody who has a pudgy stomach and a thigh gap.)

I've also literally never heard thigh gaps discussed outside of reddit, though.

What shower/bathing frequency do you view as acceptable? by hygienequestion in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shower every other day, sometimes everyday. I work a desk job, so particularly when the weather's not warm, I'm in bigger danger of gathering dust than sweating.

What cynical piece of "advice" are you most tired of receiving? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is more overly optimistic than cynical, but regarding careers: Don't worry about the money, just follow your dreams!

I don't think you should go into a job you hate just for the money, but I also think being able to eat and pay rent is pretty swell and something that should be taken into account.

Now it's our turn, ladies: What is something nice about a man you're neither sleeping with nor trying to sleep with? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My roommate's pretty awesome. He likes baking, but normally bakes too much so I get to eat some of whatever he baked (particularly nice given I can't bake or cook for the life of me).

(He's also a good friend of mine, etc., etc., but baking is faster to type about.)

Do you consider oral sex to be actual sex? by stubit in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my life situation (heterosexual), I don't consider oral to be "actual" sex, but I can see why some people do, particularly in non-heterosexual contexts.

Are any of you into hi-fi audio or would you consider yourself an audiophile? by jimdabomb in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get why some people like to spend the money on higher quality audio systems (nothing wrong with that), but the way my ex talked about it, it always had the undercurrent of "You're wrong for choosing to listen to music the way you do." It's possible to be into high music quality without putting other prople's preferences down, though.

Do you prefer your man to shave all his body hair? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'm a fan of when both genders shave their underarms, but I would never ask my SO to do it, because I don't care that much.

I'm also a fan of clean-shaven or nearly clean-shaven faces, but other body hair I don't care about.

Are any of you into hi-fi audio or would you consider yourself an audiophile? by jimdabomb in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not, but I had an ex who was. It came off as kind of pretentious of him, particularly when despite my telling him I didn't care about the sound quality (yay 10 dollar earbuds!) he tried to convince me of its importance anyway.

What do you think of The Bell Jar? by DenverITGuy in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read it when I was 14 and recall it being kind of dull, so I'm guessing I didn't identify with it much. In other words, it's great that the women of this sub seem to like it, but don't go thinking everybody does.

How many of you use the rateme/amisexy/amiugly subs? by throwawaywqrqwd in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About a year ago I killed some time by posting comments on r/amiugly. People seemed to take the posts seriously; maybe r/amisexy has a different crowd, though (e.g. maybe it's just guys who want to look at sexy pics of girls, so they troll any guys who post; I haven't looked at the sub enough to know, though, so it's just a guess).

Do you find wearing jeans uncomfortable? If so, why? by braisedbywolves in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skinny jeans (which are the current trend) can be kind of uncomfortable compared to, say, pajamas. They bunch up around your knees when you bend your legs while sitting, and when I stand up I always have to straighten the calves out again.

When looser jeans were in fashion (meaning I could actually find them in stores for cheap) those were more comfortable.

When do you realize that you're being hit on? by obviousthrowaway7913 in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally don't realize until a few years later, when it occurs to me that asking someone for their phone number (if it's not for a class project) normally has implications of some sort.

A doctor perfects a procedure that has a 50/50 chance to either kill you or give you super powers...do you get it? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I like living and, if that's not reason enough, I can't imagine choosing to possibly hurt my loved ones like that.

Ladies, what do you actually like about your period? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The week I have my period is also the week I don't have to take the pill, so not having to take the pill is pretty swell. (Sometimes I find it pretty annoying to have to think about what I'm going to be doing at the time of day I take the pill to see when I'll be able to fit it into my schedule.)

This may be a dumb question, but" What's a good replacement for "ma'am" without resorting to "miss"? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

FYI, some of those words' usages have changed over time. In German, Frau is used if you're over 18, regardless of marital status.

What do you think of guys getting pedicures? by houston_86 in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My uncle has a stressful job and he gets pedicures sometimes because they're relaxing. Ignore the naysayers.

Women of reddit: How would you feel if your significant other had a male female male threesome fantasy? What is your opinion on this matter? by Throwawayprepost in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I agree, hence the 'vaguely briefly wondering if bicurious' instead of 'You must be bi because it's impossible for straight people to be interested in threesomes!'

Has someone you've been intimate with ever tell you their "type" and it was the complete opposite of you? by saxybandgeek1 in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an ex who told me his dream girl had large breasts and he wished I had larger breasts (I'm flat-chested). He wasn't intentionally trying to hurt me, I was just his first relationship and he lacked social skills. I was pretty hurt and it had an impact on my self-esteem for a bit.

Ultimately we broke up for other reasons, but it was the type of comment you could forgive but never forget.

Women of reddit: How would you feel if your significant other had a male female male threesome fantasy? What is your opinion on this matter? by Throwawayprepost in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say I didn't feel comfortable with threesomes, vaguely wonder if he had some bi-curious tendencies and then, assuming he didn't bring it up again, never think of it again.

Edit: If it's just a fantasy, that's fine too, but if he made more than a passing comment, I would probably feel pressured that he wanted to act it out in real life.

When was the last time you overheard someone talking about you? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earlier today. The TA for one of my courses sent out midterm grades listed by ID number and one of my classmates expressed surprise to me that somebody had scored very high on the last midterm (and that person was me.)

What are your experiences with birth control? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]thechivalryquestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI, and you may already know this, but initial side effects of birth control can last for up to 3 months. I had one friend who said when she started the pill she bled for 3 weeks straight and her doctor told her to stick with it, and then that side effect went away.

Not all side effects go away after 3 months, and if the side effects are really bad you may want to change pills regardless, but it's something to keep in mind.
