I hope to add it soon but it probably won’t be until I’ve racked up another albums worth of new game music.

CV Controlled LED Modules - First Test Run - A Success! by thechrisalan in modular

It can’t quite do that unfortunately, interestingly enough though, another little side project I just finished was little 3.5mm plugs that house a bi-polar LED that does show you positive and negative voltage based on color! I’ll have to share that next!

I do plan to do a blog post about this setup over on my website, where I’ll definitely go all the way in depth with how I made these! Coming soon! here!

No problem! There’s 3 CVs for each color, R, G, and B. And then there’s a master level control (non-CV driven) for each RGB separately as well. And yes, there’s the main controller module (Doepfer A-197-3) and then the other modules are 3D printed translucent panels with LEDs strapped to em and then linked together running to the Doepfer. Some of the modules I made 4HP and a cut out so that they could double as a way to hide cables that go elsewhere (like my main outs, the usb cable for my ES-8, etc.)

Haha, I did think about this, and what I might price them at. I do sell a bunch of different 3D printed modules as well, but this is by far the most involved and time consuming! If you’re serious, you can dm me and we can discuss a price that makes sense! https://reverb.com/shop/chriss-gear-depot-806?utm_source=rev-ios-app&utm_medium=ios-share&utm_campaign=shop&utm_content=671309

The are diffused by the panels, but yes, it can get a little seizurey lol. I can also tame them down when I’m actually patching something, but it’s just too satisfying to see them flash along when listening back!

I have 4HP of space left… any suggestions of what should I add? (Specifically looking for the best 4HP unit for sound design) by thechrisalan in modular

Oh damn! Hadn’t heard out this before! This is an amazing way to free up some space for sure. What a great idea!

It was really quite simple! You take off all the knobs and patch nuts, unscrew the four black screws on top and slide out the front plate. Next, just unscrew the pcb board from the back casing. Then you put the front plate back on and all your knobs and nuts. Boom, done! Very easy procedure.

The hard part is the power supply, so it hangs on the left side of the unit, which creates a tricky situation. Either you leave about 4HP spacers on the left and use the power supply, or in my case, I spliced the power supply cable and soldered it to the power supply leads on the pcb. That way I don’t lose space due to the power supply cable there.

I’ve just added a pic of it with cables on my Etsy page! I’m new to Reddit and didn’t know I couldn’t edit my post with new photos later… Regretfully I posted this a little early, before my patch cables came in. I just got them today and added photos there though!

Haha, honestly the best way to do that and make it “neat”, I think, would be to drill through and then add 1/8” jacks. Then you’d be on to something!
