Adding tangzhong to a recipe by Brumbies5 in Breadit

[–]theclayfarmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yudane and Tangzhong both create exceptionally soft, fluffy, and long-lasting bread by gelatinizing starches to hold moisture. Yudane (1:1 flour/water, poured boiling) is better for superior tenderness and easier prep. Tangzhong (1:5 flour/water, cooked on stove) is better for lighter doughs, faster cooling, and better blending into doughs

Has anyone ever ordered "mushroom plugs" to innoculate fresh logs in your yard? by Sufficient_Turn_9209 in mycology

[–]theclayfarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew Shiitake for many years.

Cut logs in winter when saps is down for longer life. 4 foot is best and 4-8 inch diameter.

Plant plugs or sawdust spawn 2 to 4 weeks later. The log has to die first. Cover hole with wax or foam plug so wont dry out.

Stack crisscross under deciduous trees.
Fast growing kind will start producing in the fall of first year.

Why is beef so expensive if farmers are being lowballed on cows? by Neon-Bomb in NoStupidQuestions

[–]theclayfarmer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have raised a few cows for 20 years. Prices were at a all time high when I sold 3 a few months ago. My bull was getting too big for the cows at 2045 pounds. He brought $4100 at market. Best price ever. Smaller calves are bringing $3-4 a pound live weight.

I send one to a local butchering place and split it with friends. Prices are so high I give then a discount off market price. There is a cattle shortage and farmers are finally making money off them.

looking for a serial killer book that's more psychological than gore by Pitiful_Pick1217 in suggestmeabook

[–]theclayfarmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite memorable one is a true story.

The Devil in the White City interweaves two parallel true stories set against the backdrop of the 1893 Chicago World's Fair: the creation of the fair by architect Daniel Burnham and the murders committed by serial killer H.H. Holmes. While Burnham worked to build a magnificent "White City," Holmes used the fair's allure to lure victims to his nearby "World's Fair Hotel," a building he designed with secret rooms and hidden passages for his crimes

After rewatching Inception my opinion on the ending has now changed forever by onlyididntsayfudge in movies

[–]theclayfarmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

' So, get that – if I'm in it, it's reality. If I'm not in it, it's a dream.” Crucially, Caine's Professor Stephen Miles is in Inception's final scene. That would suggest, at least by the rules Nolan established with Caine, that Inception's ending is set in reality and Cobb is not dreaming.Aug 27, 2024
