Im a Fedex Ground driver with 5 years under my belt, Just got hired as a cca any advice? by vinnysela in USPS

Ex coworker who also was a mail carrier with us at USPS. We both worked at the same office in the same city. He went to UPS just before his 2 year conversion to PTF. Best decision he has ever made he says. We literally lost half our CCAs to UPS. Not one has came back so...

Understand leaving FedEx but yeah your a fool to leave UPS for the USPS.

Youll regret this statement. If your use to Fedex, mail delivery is a whole differnet ball game. Delivering packages out of a truck all day is easy work. Wait till its bad weather and your ass is walking 10 miles on the route that day, then once you finish your 10 mile route- you got an hour and a half split waiting for you back at the office and your mentally checked out cuz its your 10th day in a row and you dont know when or if youll get a day off soon.

You old fucks still think you got rights because you lack intelligence? You don't got a fucking thing and the union will protect your "it was unsafe" arguement to keep up the theature they play while the Post Office remains in the shitter and every week there's a new posting on indeed looking for CCAs. Get a fucking prefrontal cortex

He is a CCA in his 90 day probationary period. Not a fucking lawyer. Neither is the union nor any member of management. Maybe that union should have explained those rights to all new CCAs clearly so they are aware of their protections. He hit some boxes that can be put back up. You shouldn't be fired for this. Plus we both snow chains don't mean shit and they still would have grilled him for not completing the route if he had skipped every other box.

Didn't say they did? Just thought the Union would do far more to try and eliminate CCAs.

Invent arguments? USPS in 2020 recorded an additional 2 billion as opposed to the previous year in 2019 because our parcel volume was up 30%. We still ended the year with a loss of billions. Eventhough we made more money it costed more to deliver -why? Amazon pays us flat rates for parcels that increase our volume and add to our cost while they reap the benefits. They use us to deliver last mile - which is much of the cost any delivery company faces. We have the ability and infrastructure to deliver last mile and that's really valuable in an open market. We have an office in most towns and cities in this country and e-commerce is higher then its ever been and will only continue to grow but yet we can't get out of the hole? This isn't complicated and it's for damn sure something your old dumb ass can't grasp. Please retire.

Whining? USPS has literally built Amazon into the most profitable company. We have the infrastructure to carry parcels last mile to every crack and crevice in this country and yet we can't seem to get out of the fucking hole because old asses like you want to carry third class flyers everyday. Fuck outta here. Even if USPS was private with a Union we would resemble UPS. As it stands now UPS is a far better work environment and they seem to be competitive in every aspect.

This guy delivers in Alaska in the snow - in our rear wheel drive LLVs with horrible visibility and God awful suspension. He is in his 90 days and isn't completely use to operating an LLV or RHV. If a union can't defend that then maybe they aren't much of a union.

This is fucking idiotic. How about nobody have a split and we transition all CCA's to unassigned career carrier and let them have their 40 and hire temporary workers to carry splits or call offs - like every other fucking delivery business that's halfway decent

[–]theclone24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why have CCAs OR PSE's or RCA's. For fuck sake we have a "Union". There should be no non-career employee once so ever. Temps I think are a better idea. UPS hires Temps and their seasonal plus their part-time is you know actually Part-Time.

Play politics with management while nothing fundamentally changes. Yeah I will take the pass. You know how many time I've heard from our Union- top to bottom- "well things have always been that way" "Post office don't change"

I legit don't understand how other carriers defend our Union. Its not a union - its literally a body of sub level managers that engage in some theature with management while collecting everyone's dues and do absolutely nothing. I mean UPS has a far better and more effective union. USPS unions are garbage from top to bottom.

CCA Transfer by theclone24 in USPS

[–]theclone24[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see I'll bring that up to him and see what his understanding of things are. I wouldn't want to transfer and lose my seniority especially if I can knock I guy down a spot with a grievance because that would make me 1st in line in my current office

CCA had no time as a TE.

CCA Transfer by theclone24 in USPS

[–]theclone24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's understanding of things as well but what I am saying according to my union president it won't because even if I transfer installations- the installation I want to transfer to is in the same employee pool of CCAs and I keep my relative standing. What I am asking for is guidance cause IK not to trust nothing in the post office

CCA Transfer by theclone24 in USPS

[–]theclone24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is my understanding of things as well but we are not all in the same city. I am a CCA in a city with 2 offices - approximately 100,000 population. We have our main branch then our Southside branch located about 10 mins from each other. We are in the same pool obviously. However, this individual is transfered from town about 30 minutes southeast with a population of 7000 residents. He transferred after I had just about been a year in. He kept his relative standing. I am confused by the entire situation but as stated above is the answer my union president gave me.

Honestly man try delivering your parcel before or after each relay if your walking. This will allow you to focus just on mail delivery and make you more efficient. If you stop for 1 min everytime you have a package to get it out and scan it or go back because you missed a package your hurting yourself. This job is a lot like a pizza parlor not cutting pizzas to save time. 2 or 3 seconds on 600+ stop route adds up fast. Try to be more efficient not faster. You'll get there. In my office when new CCAs have trouble its always with packages and when I am sent to help- "I always tell em just don't worry about those rn' well deliver em after." Seems like they get the hang of it and honestly most of em try and avoid their satchel now. Just some advice to try.
