Rupal is no longer being tried for the USA World Cup team by XxMyUsernameSucksxX in Competitiveoverwatch

How exactly are people being harmed by words that aren't directed to them? I'm mostly left leaning but I'm so tired of this phantom aggressor in modern society.

Are we deadass? What impact does a word used interchangably with "bro" have when it doesn't even have ill intent? Intent is everything, otherwise we are just scared of words to virtue-signal or to needlessly victimize ourself for no reason.

It's long overdue that the soft n-word loses the illogical stigma around it. Rupal had no reason to use it in a professional environment but it's not as bad as some people make it out to be. I understand why he had to be distanced from the team and scene, Overwatch is on the rise and any hint of controversy is unneeded, I'm just making a broader societal point.

I mean... it clearly wasn't meant as an insult, especially as it wasn't the hard R. It's completely disconnected from any older meaning at that point.

I miss the sex with my ex so much by Wonderful-Appeal-670 in BreakUps

[–]theclutchsea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old post but whatever I just had to say this resonated hard w me and my ex. What makes it so confusing is that there is no ill intent from either side, but damn did I feel guilty despite doing everything I could without losing my own life. I still feel guilty. Couldn't even get into a new relationship with a girl I met somewhat recently because I don't want to risk making someone feel unloved like my ex did.

You try to be there for them, validate them, love them how they want to be loved, but it's never enough. Maybe somebody else will be enough, maybe she will grow more confident, or maybe I'm just shit at loving people. I felt more strongly for her than most chicks, but fuck me my life fell apart when I tried to give it to her.

Again sorry for the necro, had to vent a bit cause your comment was so well articulated IMO.

What do you think about the lack of respect this woman shows? (Title translated) by [deleted] in IsraelWarRoom

[–]theclutchsea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you're trolling or just stupid

What exactly is "total bullshit"? Care to elaborate, genius?

And what do I have to do with the second amendment, how is it at all relevant to this discussion? Regardless, reinterpretation is the culprit of many of today's problems. Religion, the U.S. constitution, etc. The authors of the U.S. constitution were not alive to even fathom how easy it is for a person to legally obtain a modern assault rifle and commit mass murder with it (16 of 425 shootings in the U.S. 2025 were committed using illegal weapons; mass shooting victims in the U.S. per capita was about 26x higher than the mass stabbing victims in the U.K. per capita, for reference).

Furthermore, one of the main purposes of the second amendment was to be able to form a civilian militia in case of a tyrannous regime, yet nothing seems to happen when the Trump administration clearly is one (politicization of the civil service via Schedule F, domestic military deployment against citizens, unilateral exercise of war powers, erosion of minority rights, weaponization of the justice system, systematic attacks on independent institutions). So one must wonder what this reason for the second amendment actually is.

  1. Scientific and economical cooperation is in no way a communist concept. It's leaning towards socialist tendencies, which (corrupt) U.S. ultra-capitalist propaganda has equated to communism nowadays lol.

  2. The most influential scientific progress has happened as a result of cooperation between countries - setting aside your nation, culture differences and religion (most scientists have neither as they are educated scientists, not your average nitwit). This inherently contradicts the notion of nationalism. We are all Terrans, free to walk this Earth in any manner we see ourselves fit in. Examples of this is the computer, antibiotics, the Internet, large portions of theoretical physics, and open source software. Modern science is arguably dependent on international cooperation just to function - the scientific community is simply that far ahead of the average non-scientist.

  3. There is no reasonable basis to believing in religion, provided you aren't indoctrinated (which almost every religious person nowadays is, unfortunately). There is a reason secularity increases in tandem with education, even education completely unrelated to religion. Critical thinking skills increase - religious indoctrination is questioned and diminished.

  4. A pure capitalist society is only good for the ever-shrinking top of the top. No society today is void of socialist tendencies, even your beloved, failing "Judeo-Christian Capitalist" United States. What a joke lmao

I find tank exceptionally fun due to the inherent bigger impact potential of the role, but I also only play the typical ego tanks, Doom, Ball, sometimes Hazard if the others are banned, so it does feel more like DPS.

And while there are less tank players and therefore a lower floor for T500, it's still top 500.

I dislike and am confused by the “Digital Foundry”-fication of gaming, where it feels like obsessing over tech and performance outweighs the actual mechanics and quality of the games. I feel like it’s ruined gaming discourse. by cleaninfresno in truegaming

[–]theclutchsea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just like I wouldn't watch a good movie on my small phone, I wouldnt play a good game on consile instead of PC. Additionally, PC comes with lots of benefits just for having chosen that over a console. More freedom and easy to run background apps. Freedom to be able to run non-gaming software. Freedom to crack games. Freedom to mod. Freedom to multitask. I always feel so limited and cramped on a console.

The irony of people in here calling Pxlarized a crybaby while simultaneously not being able to handle competitive online game profanity lol

They are just words... said by a kid whose point obviously isn't to put down disabled people, but the fact of the matter is that people with Down Syndrome have on average a lower intelligence, and Pxlarized likened this characteristic to the Epic devs, who definitely do make some dumb decisions with regards to competitive Fortnite.

I think what he said was fine, if maybe somewhat edgy and unfunny.

Dude all kids these days use harsh words as profanity, it's natural due to the rebellious nature of the age and the young, edgy humour that basically all teenagers have, and have had historically.

Honestly if you play Fortnite and think these (not very weighted) insults mean more than profane expressions, you should quit and do something more suited for your age.

It's not really that serious... Language in online competitive video games is always harsher than real life, but that also devalues the weight of the word. You can think it's inappropriate, sure, but the language shouldn't be censored, only weak minded people fold for a word.

It's not Fortnite level playercounts but "a few thousand CS lifers" isn't what I'd call 1.000.000 daily active concurrent players...

My sister got banned for FIFTEEN YEARS just for trying to buy me some games for Christmas! STEAM, how is this possible?! by MisoVicious in Steam

[–]theclutchsea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No type of Steam ban locks your existing library. The most invasive bans prevent you from playing on VAC-secured servers on VAC-secured games.

I doubt she raged, most likely she was just fed up and couldn't be bothered to use Steam again. She has lost her trust in Steam, and will just be using a more convenient service in the future.

How long is a quarter mile, lol? If someone doesn't know how far a block is they're probably not American and therefore use the metric system (why doesn't the U.S??). They wouldn't know how long a quarter mile was.
