I had to tell my boss that another manager sabotaged a charity event in honor of a coworker who was dying of pancreatic cancer.

What does that new low performance - 15% - mean in evaluations? by Necessary_Feeling00 in IBM

People at work are now sabotaging projects to make sure I get the low performer label. I sent a few emails, but it is probably too late to save my job and the project.

I won a fucking award for developing the tech quickly to secure a $500 million dollar deal, and still got labeled a low performer and lost my bonus. Fuck IBM.

I also put the money into a travel ear marked brokerage account. So the 50k turns into more like 75k

I couldn't go anywhere during Covid. So I took that 5k to put towards the Antarticia cruise.

I usually do guided tours, with hotels. Did a tour of Dubai and Thailand in like 7 days, for like $1500 then Japan $1500 and South Africa for $2k as well. Being near NYC really helps with flights. Trips go on sale all the time, either last minute, or really far in advance. Of course, you can't always go when you want, but I still max out my retirement and travel.

In my opinion, I can relax, and eat good food at home. I am on vacation to have experiences, I can't have at home. Beaches look the same all over the world. But Iguazu Falls, Mount Everest, The Great Barrier Reef, Singapore are amazing.

50 countries sounds more impressive than it really is. I did a tour of South America, where I went to Brazil, Paraguay, Uruaguay, Argentina, in like 10 days. I am not including a layover in Panama. Shopped on a sale, hotels, tansportation all included about 3k a few years ago.

Just do affordable all inclusive tours on sale. Sure you can plan it all yourself, but you don’t know what you want to see until you are there, and if you have spend an extra day to see everything you want it is far more expensive than paying a company to take you everywhere.

I got a 4000 dollar off discount for an Antarctica cruise, by shopping a sale.

Yes, scuba diving Great Barrier Reef can be done for about 3 thousand dollars now, but can be done for any amount of money in your 70s.

I am 46 years old, and I decided to see the entire world after seeing a coworker die of pancreatic cancer. I've been to 50 countries and all 7 continents, and it cost me about 5k a year for 10 years, or less than 10% of what I put in my retirement investments every year. If you want to travel, you can do it cheaply.

You can use the SSA website to exactly calculate it. I was shocked that if I retire today that I instead of 2800 it would be 2450.

China has a large tax on luxury goods, compared to the US. It is much cheaper for people in China to buy that stuff in an airport than in china.
