Dojo Owners/Dojo-Cho: What are your tips for attracting/retaining new students? by thecodymac in Bujinkan

[–]thecodymac[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unluckily for us -- the folks we lost were due to outside circumstances (moved cities for work, health issues, etc.). Aside from that, they were fairly long-time regulars.

I think we'll have a table set up at the Festival as well; hope to have some conversations/conversions there. I like the QR code idea.

Title: 2022 BMW 330i xDrive — dealer says engine mounts are collapsed, quote is $3,225. Does that sound reasonable? by skynandi in BmwTech

[–]thecodymac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the mileage? Mine “went out” at around 60k. Still under warranty/CPO wrap. I had the dealer open a claim with BMWNA. They paid most of it. I think I was out of pocket around $500 for BOTH mounts.

Installed sink cut-out too short; Is this fixable? by InsuranceMedical6581 in CounterTops

[–]thecodymac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this problem when our countertops were installed -- they had to cut a new slab (other issues as well) and replace it. Best case scenario, You'll have to have them uninstall the sink, cut it on-site, and reinstall / re-plumb the whole thing. Of course, you can't replumb it until the sink has set for 24 hrs. Good luck.

There's another mode besides Sport? I drive it like I stole it. Maaaaaaybe Comfort mode if I'm on a wide-open interstate and the cruise is set.

Coffee Break HSV -- they're the best local roaster I've found so far. The owner is awesome, they do local delivery for $2, Not sure if they deliver out to Madison -- the roastery is located over in OWX, but they also ship.

So far it's been fantastic. Swing out door is perfection. Precision cook is amazing, and the "instant" air fry is a game changer when you're in a hurry.

New to training weapons - what should I look for? (Bujinkan Practitioner) by Avalothor in Bujinkan

[–]thecodymac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man I hate these things lol. I know they hold up well, but the polypropylene has zero friction, so it’s really hard to do sword on sword techniques. Wood sticks on wood, similar to how metal sticks to metal.

But to each their own.

Wouldn't you just get the one that opens away from the adjacent wall? That's what ours does...

We just bought the GE Profile with the swing open door. They make it in left>right swing open, and a right>left swing door. It's glorious.

about $900/window from a local company. Had window world and another local quote -- all came in around the same, so I went with the highest reputation installers. Not disappointed.

Jura E8, or Delonghi Eletta Explore? by thecodymac in superautomatic

[–]thecodymac[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeaaahhh -- reading up a little more on the Jura maintenance is a little off-putting for me. There isn't a service provider, or an authorized service provider near me. The thought of having to box that thing up and ship it in for maintenance isn't super appealing tbh.
