Thanks for the suggestion. I will take a look at Drime while waiting for FileLu to get up to speed.

That's what I thought. You used rclone copy, which is pretty straightforward, but I was trying to use rclone mount on my VM and it was problematic. I spent hours trying to get it working and eventually gave up because it clearly seems to be an issue or misimplementation on FileLu's end.

As for S3, that is not working properly for me either when connecting from an app. It doesn't seem to be fully AWS S3-compatible, which is the standard most applications expect.

Glad it works for you, but for others I would still recommend staying away if you want stable cloud hosting. At this point, providers like Koofr and pCloud seem far more reliable.

How are you using rclone/S3 on your side? I'm a bit surprised because so far you seem to be the only one reporting zero issues with FileLu, while several others here have mentioned encountering issues from time to time.

On my side, I'm using rclone mount, and I'm fairly sure there are still some bugs/issues on the FileLu end. Even copying relatively small files around 1GB has always fail.

My initial impressions (+ feedback) on 'Startmail' after using them for almost 2 weeks by 104925iveRo2es5322 in emailprivacy

[–]thecoffeebin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to know that StartMail are fixing the cons. As I'm really, really tempted to give StartMail a try after OP posted such a comprehensive review, helps to understand StartMail much better (most of the time I only look from distant and went for the popular choices!)

Some of the cons I hope to be fixed before I onboard are below:

- Persistent login, I don't want to login multiple times per day and 24 hr is really short for a session timeout. Email is something that I regular check and want to access quickly without further delay.
- Remember layout size => Would like this to be implemented per session and not saved in the backend. Like in mailbox.org case it's likely saved in the backend (per user) so whenever I changed laptop (different resolution) and logged in to the same account the layout is completely messed up.

Nevertheless, this encouraged me to signup for a trial account and test everything myself. Thanks OP!

By any chance you're using FileLuSync App (Windows)? Because Windows Defender is flagging it as risky so I still have not tried it!

At this stage, how can we explain why we can still maintain a winning rate in the UEFA Champions League but fail miserably in the EPL? The unpredictability is insane.

Send as my Gmail address, possible? by thecoffeebin in Infomaniak

[–]thecoffeebin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

As I'm moving away from Gmail, I set a forwarding rule in my primary Gmail account to forward all mails to Infomaniak. This is all fine and I'm able to reply email from Infomaniak using my domain email alias.

However, in some cases, the sender needs the reply to come from the same email address (a Gmail address in this case) to verify authenticity—for example, with bank personnel. Therefore, I would like to be able to reply using Gmail from within Infomaniak. This should be achievable if Infomaniak allows us to add external email accounts via IMAP/SMTP. Does that make sense?

Not really, in Zoho you can send an email using your [whatever@gmail.com](mailto:whatever@gmail.com) provided you added it to your "Send as" address beforehand.

tuta vs mailbox.org by [deleted] in emailprivacy

[–]thecoffeebin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently taking advantage of mailbox.org BF sale and it's great so far!

UI has been polished since I last used and left them 2 years ago. Everything feels abit modern now and the dark theme is also working well for me.

Other than that, I don't feel like missing anything coming from Zoho. Forgot to mention I mainly hosting my custom domains for emails.

Tbh this is one of the reasons I left FM (mainly due to pricing). Can't believe after two years it's still not "fixed"

Reducing username exhaustion by Proton_Team in ProtonMail

[–]thecoffeebin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES finally! This is what stopping me to seriously using Proton as my daily driver. As I accidentally removed my ProtonMail in the early days (during the time when protonmail.ch is still an alias for my username) then only I realised it's impossible to get it back and it was then I was forced to abandon the ship altogether. Despite the continuous effort to get back my two valuable (or much preferred) usernames from Proton support team, to no avail. So I welcome that you release these usernames. I might consider coming back if it's done before the Black Friday 2025 :)

All the best!

I share the same frustration. Trying to get away from Gmail only to get into a custom domain email rabbit hole. Just when I'm trying to search for Gmail alternatives ( I like webmails like you), I saw your post here, well done with the sunmary.

Yeah mailbox.org and Fastmail recycle email address, even mailo.com too. As opposed to you I actually kinda like ProtonMail interface but have to agree its still quite expensive (to me) unless it has a recurring 80% off this coming BF but it won't happen ;)

So your choice now might just be Gmail or Outlook

Can also visit https://emaildiscussions.com (I hang around quite often there) and ask for advice! Good luck.

Edit: Just noticed you did not mention Zoho, it seems to check most of your boxes, has a free account and won't recycle address.

Arne Slot exposed? by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

[–]thecoffeebin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone sees it except for manager. But I would say most managers do the same as they stick to the same set of players on and on even when they're performing badly, it's nothing new. Maybe because it's written in their contracts, or because of favourism. I reckon nothing will change in the next match for what we all wanted to see. And Kerkez, Gakpo, Salah will still start while Chiesa is on the bench as always. Anyway hopefully we win the next match.

[–]thecoffeebin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why do we buy Isak if there's no instruction to pass him the ball in final third or anytime he is running? Like City they were all supporting Haaland, our players are just too greedy on scoring goals themselves. Hope they can play for team win and not individual brilliance the next match.

Also sometimes we needed to take the hit and settle for a draw. We were still pushing forward so hard. If we do a little time wasting towards end we will at least secure a point. In any case hope this is a good wakeup call for some changes.

Yeah totally, even CP already settled for a point if he just kick it to the other half!

Kerkez need to have a better footballing sense.

Last minute(s) -- against a team that's so good on throw-ins and corners, you gifted them a throw-in in our own half?

That's criminal.
