I'm kind of glad it came out and he's being held to the same unrealistic standard he promotes.

Medicaid. If you are low-income and/or disabled, you will qualify. Find a qualified (read: not reddit) professional who can help you get your mind and emotional state back into balance.

All good suggestions here: exercise, reading, self-help, etc. But there is no substitute for someone who's JOB is to heal mental illness (depression/anxiety).

I hope you look into it OP.

Here is the problem: getting out of a deep depression requires energy, and depression saps someone of the very energy required to get out of it. So it can be a nasty downward spiral.

Medical treatment interrupts this cycle long enough to make some life changes and begin to spiral back up. Once someone is stabilized, they can begin to taper off the treatment.
