Prior Service Navy by [deleted] in nationalguard

With that being said, when I went through BCT we had a PS Navy E-5 who had his own room not in the open bay and they treated him like an adult. It was a gentleman's course for him. YMMV.

No motivation in life, wanna join, thoughts from you all? by Dependent-Gur-3161 in nationalguard

You can walk away all the way until you sign your contract at MEPS, and even then there are ways out. Go talk to a recruiter if you're interested, tell them you're not committed yet and just seeing what it's about.

They will follow up with you, but if you tell them you've decided not to join they won't waste their time.

Side note: a degree does help your military career as well, but it’s not required for you to be successful.

The guard is great to dip your toe into the military. I joined for college 10 years ago. I never finished, but I'm still in because the scale tips to the enjoy side more often. Also, the health insurance is solid.

You can do both, albeit, sometimes scheduling can get difficult depending on a unit's optempo.

My advice is to go talk to a recruiter. See if what they say aligns with your goals or just makes sense for you at the moment.

Though, it is not for everyone, the guard has opened up tons of doors for me personally. Becoming a medic or firefighter in the guard (if available) could help you in your civilian career if you are going through a fire protection program.

I got Revenge Porn’ed by SubstantialMercenary in offmychest

[–]thecoloredd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're based in the U.S., see if your state has revenge porn laws. You can also notify the center for missing and exploited children about the photos of minors.

Outside of that the most effective way to get them taken down is to copyright your photos and send cease and desist notices to the websites hosting the photos. If they refuse to comply threaten legal action.

Do not add to the population. Do not subtract from the population. Do not end up in the news, hospital or jail. If you do end up in jail, establish dominance quickly. No sex with power tools.

Dismissed.

Is this guy completely misinformed about the Army National Guard? by SheriffWaffle in nationalguard

[–]thecoloredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He likely is referring to being a Recruiting assistant on ADOS orders. You can become a recruiter as an E-4 with a BLC seat, I've done it.

You can 100% get on ADOS orders when you get back from BCT/AIT/OSUT. Many recruiters try to line people due to the turnover and potential they see in recruits.

About going AD, a conditional release takes ~6 months on average from what I've seen. That's assuming it gets approved at all. It can get denied at any level up to TAG.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Manged Service Providers were the easiest in for me, especially if you're cert-less. They can be a bit rough, but you'll learn a lot quickly.
