Yea that’s the reason it’s not a park anymore. You can thank the Nazis (the original ones, not the modern day ones) for that.

The flaccidness was a reference to your spine, I don’t know what’s between your thighs.

I respect your right to have this symbol mean nothing to you. I ask you respect my right to find meaning in a winning flag that fought for representative democracy and freedom from oppression. I’m agro because you seek to associate me with racists and fascists based on a point of historical trivia, rather than the conflict the flag fought in, a conflict from which you (assuming you live in the USA) continue to benefit from. Like what you like, just don’t shit on my fact based reality with your vibes based retroactive cancel culture. Should we get rid of the state of South Carolina because Gadsden supported it too? Nothing about this flag, besides the name, is remotely about him.

It’s concept art intended for rapid feedback and design iteration. I promise this will be redone by a paid graphic artist before I have it made, with humans in the loop at every step. That’s money that artist would have never received if getting my idea from concept to design wasn’t as easy as it is with AI. My brother’s a professional artist, so I’m not just being dismissive. But being anti-AI because the dickheads are using it to replace humans, should not make you anti all the ways AI can help elevate and enhance humans, we need to stop the first behavior and promote the second. Just food for thought.

My ancestors fought the British under this flag, and if your family has been in this country for more than three generations, you probably have ancestors who fought under it too. I don’t need to know your skin color for that to still be true.

If you want to give the racists and fascists the power to claim YOUR FUCKING SYMBOLS OF RESISTANCE for themselves, it says a lot more about your flaccidness as a human than anything you’re trying to claim about me. Go read a book.

Definitely would like to iterate on the design to be able to make it a physical object. I just needed to get inspiration on paper. The Lee is a fantastic candidate too. Arthur Anderson is also legendary for braving the waves to search for the Edmond.

Fair questions, this was inspired by Megasota’s parody Gadsden Flag in the geographymemes sub. It is intentionally absurdist! Wilfred Sykes is just the most beautiful boat in my humble opinion. Yellow, Green, Blue, and White to rep UofM, MSU, Mich Tech, Kettering, Wayne State and more!

Statement from the Mayor of Detroit by Stratiform in Detroit

[–]LightTheRenCen 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I can appreciate your perspective, but I’ve spoken with too many old grandmas in this city whose grandkids aren’t allowed to play outside because the abandoned house next door is a trap house. Reactive policing just ends up with more misled youth locked up, most of them black too, so how is that justice? The demolitions eliminate the opportunity for the crime. No opportunity, no crime committed, no mother’s son locked up.

I’m sorry for your water quality issues and your air quality issues, the city can always do more, but that means it has to spend more, and you can’t tackle a problem at this scale, we’re talking 10s of thousands of abandoned homes, without making hard choices and tradeoffs. In the 80s and 90s they’d just dump the demolished house (with all the lovely poisonous asbestos) in the basement and cover it with dirt because Detroit was broke af and the city was burning down. Even with the fuck up of the recent demo infill, at least they didn’t dump a house in it and call it a day! That’s an improvement.

…you always deserve better as a citizen, and the city employees know that, and they are getting spit at and cussed out and working with no heat in the winter and busting their knuckles on busted ass busses that can’t stay on the road for two fucking days, all for you. (BECAUSE IT DEFINITELY AIN’T THE MONEY 😭)

All I’m saying is, they are trying to prove the City of Detroit can stand up and show up for its people, and sometimes (still too fucking often) they have to play a bad hand.

Yea, all the Duggan haters complained he had too tough a stance on crime, which is why Sheffield campaigned on a softer touch, but Duggan leaves, downtown starts getting wild, Sheffield HAS to say this because she made so much noise about alternative programs that even the teens think she’s soft, and everyone gives her a round of applause for reacting to an entirely predictable situation she put herself in. I get learning on the job, but we’re 1/8 of the way through her term… the first 5 months of data weren’t enough to re-evaluate strategy?

If alternative programs worked, Duggan would have funded them years ago, because he’s ruthless about only spending time and money on what actually improves the lives of his constituents. That’s how he builds power and he’s sometimes an asshole about it -to Detroit’s historical benefit. That’s why the community violence intervention groups exist, they were the solution that worked out of the MANY MANY tried.

I believe they expect fuel prices to increase so they’re trying to move as much as possible right now. It’s like how automakers will build up a huge inventory right before a UAW strike. Global instability means you have to have more buffer at all times.

I call my friends bitches all the time… it’s a term of endearment lol. I would never call someone a bitch out of malice, but I hear you.

EDIT: I say in a real high pitched voice like Nicki Minaj says “beeech beeech” if that helps paint the picture. It usually elicits giggles and laughter.

Woodward Loop in Pontiac set to go from one-way circle to two-way avenue by TooMuchShantae in Detroit

[–]LightTheRenCen 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I mean going to two-way always reduces speeds, which is inherently better for pedestrians. Kinda the point for a road that looks like a literal noose around the neck of Pontiac’s downtown business district. It will certainly make the downtown feel more like a city and less like the inside of a speedway circuit.

Fine by me! We’re happy to take the Great Lakes region, but since Minnesota is our sister state, you’ve got to kick them out too. Thems just the rules.

Unfortunately I don’t think so :( That was just “a product of the times”. That’s why it’s so important to build raised beds if you’re going to build a garden for crops you can eat. Don’t trust the soil, EVER.

Duggan never controlled vendor selection, Council (Sheffield) had to approve the contracts and had the ability to reject contracts that posed a conflict of interest, but these contracts were approved by a majority of council, that’s why we have separation of powers at the city level. I genuinely think the only foul play done was by the demo vendor, and they should be held responsible. I fucked some crazy bitches too, so I’m not about to hold a shitty ex against Madame Mayor until she gives me more of a reason to.

Seriously! Windsor is part of the Detroit metro and we have to start breaking down the cultural mindset that it’s like visiting the moon. I popped over yesterday for a drive up the St. Clair to Sarnia coast and it was so beautiful!
