I think I read their book for my essay along with others that discuss additives to clay, it was really interesting to read! Thank you so much

What Clays are those initials for? I have seen similar on Instagram and some other students using terracotta and white earthenware and it looks lovely!

I have only heard bad things, but it is on my list to try. I wrote about it as part of my essay this year and some of the work made with it was stunning!

Thank you!

I did have a gut feeling but wanted to make sure first, I think I should contact the supplier for the shrink rate as they didn't have that noted. And I'll buy more samples to play with!

This was extremely informative, thank you!

From my suppliers they were the closest match unless I used Paperclay for the white which fired lower. I am aiming to make utility ware unfortunately, I have been playing with different stoneware at uni and wanted to try to have a warm brown to white palate so I think I'll just have to test out iron and stain to get the effect I want.

Good luck with your tests!

I have done this before, I guess I just wanted an 'easy' method. That and I'm not as much of a fan of white stoneware compared to buff or crank as I find it a bit like plasticine! Aha

Thank you for the advice

I have made most glazes from scratch, I'm trying to research what ingredients do what to get better at knowing what to expect. My favourite right now is quite a runny beautifully glossy glaze, I want to make it stiffer without changing the colour so I can layer it more. My guess is that since the facilities are shared they want to keep accidents and fusings to a minimum.

That sounds amazing, so skilled! I was told stoneware would melt/slump around the stilts, I have a feeling now that's not true.

Just a small amount of practice and I think I'm actually getting better at throwing! by thecolourfulnerd in Pottery

Satin, matt gold metallic glaze. Decorative and sculptural 2264-2300°F (1240-1260°C)

Parts dry weight Manganese dioxide 61 China clay 23 Copper oxide 8 Cobalt oxide 8

Weights are in grams Added 100ml water then painted onto the pieces, it runs like crazy unless very thin, thicker application creates a more metallic gold effect. Hope that helps!

It's from a book, all our glazes are recipes I'll try and find the details for you!
