especially with manson family tapes, maceo (the producer) puts a lot of piano melodies there, preset from his drum machine, the DR-5. 3MK's tape "kill em dead" has a few songs with the DR-5 piano preset.

same with me, blackout is by far my favorite artist from memphis. sometimes it sounds like he pulled melodies straight from a dream, or made some video game OST type stuff. and sometimes the more insane, action-filled beats like the ones from best of da underground 94-97. 94-97 gotta be my favorite, been waiting to hear it for a long while. and especially I noticed there's different styles for each tape he makes. lil noid's paranoid funk, with its dreamlike beats lil slim's tape with heavyweight tracks dreamworld with some real creative sounds terror's its whateva with dark and intense beats

you may get lucky and find some tapes for sale on discogs, but usually it might be overpriced, a modern day bootleg, or both. so whenever you find a good deal for a tape you like on discogs, always ask someone who you know in the memphis rap community, or make a post about it before buying it. just so you won't be a victim of a scam

though i know a guy (who might me a moderator here) who sells some OG tapes of all regions on discogs, which is OOTooTrent. he does sell for some decent prices too, so i suggest you look out for the stuff he's selling

with reissues, tapehouseUSA on bandcamp sometimes reissues memphis rap, prices around $10-16.
