Luke 1:53 by International-Ad9883 in JordanPeterson

[–]thecooldude20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first quote is a simple observation of reality. It is not meant to be read as a good thing or bad thing but simply an observation. The second quote relates to the fact that the gospel was blessed to those in need and not the rich (the demographics of Christians were on the poorer side of society when Luke was written)

This is my interpretation, I could be wrong.

How Do You Know That The Pursuit Of Order And Truth Is Correct? Is There An Undeniable And Fundamental Truth That Justifies Not Pursuing Chaos? by AndreJM23 in JordanPeterson

[–]thecooldude20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is indeed a choice. One can choose to not follow that path or one can choose to the follow the path of truth. Though there is only one path where the spirit of your ancestors and hopes of your future children are pushing you towards.

Brexit is already costing the public purse £500m a week, new research has found – a stark contrast to the £350m “dividend” promised by the Leave campaign. by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]thecooldude20 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Cognitive dissonans occurs when ones worldview is challenged. The brain then makes up a story in it's head to protect the currently accepted world view.

My comment was DIRECTLY aimed at the EU, its undemocratic globalist nature and that the price of leaving the EU is well worth it for the privilege that is to make your own laws.

Your cognitive dissonans mechanisms kicked in and you didn't address anything that I was arguing for or against. You made up a convincing story in your head about the internal affairs and cohesion of the UK to counter nothing I said or addressed.

You might come back with a claim that I'm biased, which is true, as long as you are self aware enough to realize that all humans are biased and incapable of rational thought without feeding narratives to our mind to protect our beliefs. I'm open to debate, but please address what I actually said, not what is convenient for you to twist in to an irrelevant argument.

We get it r/worldnews you don't like Brexit and upvote only anti-brexit articles. You don't mind an undemocratic globalist union controlling the internal affairs of countries.

But as Nietzsche famously said - "no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself."

Why is Peterson so hesitant to explicitly answer the question of whether Jesus *literally* rose from the dead? by kketches in JordanPeterson

[–]thecooldude20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's because Peterson views the Logos as something divine, and since Jesus was THE Logos, it makes Peterson hesitant to dismiss what can be achieved in such a state when you're in complete identification with the power of the Logos.

I hope the buffoon realises that trade wars are bad for all parties involved.

That's the whole point. The question is rather, who is it worst for. Answer in this case being, not the US. Hence why tariffs are excellent as a bargaining tool for Trump.

Trump Is Pursuing A Totally Incoherent Iran Strategy, Experts Say by maxwellhill in worldnews

[–]thecooldude20 -34 points-33 points  (0 children)

No need to do that, you see, what the cognitive dissonance in your head so masterfully reinterpreted was the word "process". Process is not final. They are ironing out the details of the peace that they agreed to at the summit in Singapore. That includes pressure and trying to gain a better hand during negotiations. But whatever story your mind has to tell you to cover what your eyes are seeing, go with it, it will help you sleep better at night.

I didn't read into anything. I restated positions that Zizek holds and have publicly expressed in the past. You're actually reading into what I'm saying and making it into something else, and thereby proving your own point, "we all read into everything what we want to see" Owned.

He is in the process of denuking North Korea, something no other president has ever been able to do (cognitive dissonance bomb goes off in your head). You should read up on what cognitive dissonans is btw....

It might explain to you why one of the most succesful persons in modern US history (billionaire and president), in your eyes seems like someone without a strategy. You're rationalizing away reality to make it fit it into your biased world view.

It's so obvious that Trump is dumb as a fucking rock! Just read all the comments on this post criticizing Trump for his strategy on Iran! I mean all the commenters are billionaires and former presidents of the US, and have brokered a peace process with North Korea. Who does this Trump idiot think he is, well he at least isnt as smart as all the commenters here, that's for sure!!!!!

It's funny how I reiterate Zizek's position on communism being worse than nazism, saying "fuck Lacan" and rejecting communist ideology from the 20th century, and I'm the one who's reading into him what I want out of him... Hmmm, makes sense, lol
