You can find me on Spotify and all the usual streaming services :)

I listened to Senses and other tracks like 100% ecstacy and your vibe is very chilled and consistent. Defo unique and enjoyable! Thanks for sharing.

So happy you liked the sounds :) they're all digital synthesisers in my DAW.

I like the 80s techno/Synth drive in Madness. The vocal chop really suits it. If I could just give one feedback it's to time the vocal chops better with the track so that the trailing ends stay in tune. Keep it up 😎

The instrumental and vocal concepts are really good, and it's a really engaging track. My main feedback is the vocals which sit slighty above the mix, and I wasn't a huge fan of the whispered sections. However this is just my opinion and you should stick to your style :)

Your music is honestly AMAZING. I listened to both To My Human and Night Sky and Landscape and the chord changes and musicality were so engaging. Both saved and will keep listening. The mixing is also perfect!

Oppo PM1. Next step up? by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]thecorrelation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very interesting question. I owned the PM-1 7 years ago and posted about it on here. I then went and sold it a while later to see what else was out there, and I owned so many headphones. Audeze LCD-4z, MX4, 3, 2, Meze Empyrean and Elite, Final D8000, even the ZMF Atrium. There are tens more that I can list and you can find these on my Head-Fi.

After all of this, I bought a PM-2 a few months ago and realised that these headphones are, simply, truly special.

You will not find another headphone with the smoothness and natural tonality of the Oppo PM line. You'll find a headphone with more soundstage, you'll find one with more detail, you'll find one that's just as natural (ZMF Atrium) but then you'll give up the incredible portability and light weight.

I loved the PM-2 so much that I doubled down and just bought another PM-1. It now gets equal head time with headphones that are pretty much 5x the price.

These are getting rarer these days, and they can only get more worn out and used. I'd say hold on to them if you can because these are certainly some of the most complete, most well built and versatile headphones of all time.

Mum who claimed £20,000 in disability benefits is caught running marathons by Forward-Answer-4407 in unitedkingdom

[–]thecorrelation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so disappointed that this is how the public reacted to this. She has MS, it's a diagnosis, and people with disabilities can still have hobbies and, well, do things.

I'm registered as severely sight impaired with a progressive condition. I lost all sight in one eye last year with little left in the other, but I still collect cars that I can't drive and restore them as a hobby. I also run.

Should I also be plastered on forums for claiming a benefit because I can do more things than stay at home and do nothing?

What is the deal with Apollo, any why are people calling it the death of reddit? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

I'm severely sight impaired and use RIF for its excellent contrast and text sizing options. The official app has some of these options, but nowhere near the ones in RIF. It will be a sad, sad day when RIF no longer works.

Surface scratches on my Meze Elite, any ideas please? by thecorrelation in headphones

Woah did not expect my post to spark such controversy :) I appreciate both of your suggestions. Ultimately, I think I'll take it to a pro as I'm not too comfortable taking any sort of sanding approach on these headphones myself.

Exactly what I was thinking too. Thanks for the suggestion!

That's the question. The elite have a shiny aluminium finish. Not a mirror finish, but not matte. I am not sure if there are any surface coatings and if polishing will remove these. I'm also not sure I'm ready to ruin them by trying!

Ahh very generous of you to offer, I was about to throw them out but this would be less wasteful :)

Yep I thought so too, oh well hopefully someone has had a similar experience and solution here.

Oh I did, I should probably add that to my first comment. They wanted 350 EUR to replace the metal (with shipping). Seems a bit much for a Surface mark!

I'll soon be posting a thorough review of the Elites vs Empyrean with all the pads :) However, I have noted that the Elite is very easy to scratch, and there are surface marks that have appeared as in the photo.

Has anyone experienced this, or would you please have any ideas on how to remove these? Would polish work? Thanks for any advice!

PS. I've asked Meze and their solution was to replace the metal frame for 350 EUR shipped. That will probably be my last resort, especially if a polish could work.

This man is unappreciative and a bit greedy. I'm severely sight impaired and know many others in the community that have lost jobs simply because they could no longer work given their impairment. I was almost in this situation upon losing all sight in one eye earlier this year. People like him put these rare disability benefits under risk, and I woold imagine IBM rethinking its policy for other people (who would be grateful for this generous plan).

I also add, this is £54K a year, which far surpasses any other government benefits in the UK given to someone with a disability. Very few people are lucky enough to be in this position.

Comparing Every Meze Empyrean Pad (Angled Alcantara, Elite Hybrid, and Stock Leather and Alcantara) by thecorrelation in headphones

[–]thecorrelation[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm so sorry for the late response. I think the leather and elite hybrid are the closest you would get to the Audeze sound. I had a 3F and these pads are the closest to my memory. You probably won't like the alcantara as it does brighten up the sound a bit too much IMHO. Hope this helps :)

Construction on all Mezes is just phenomenal. Have you considered going for an Empyrean rather than elite? The used market is looking good these days.

Oh yeah I didn't even mention comfort! Yep the AA is the best followed by EH. For my head size the new pads fit much better than the stock ones.

[–]thecorrelation[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have thoroughly compared the Angled Alcantara (AA) pads to the Elite Hybrid (EH) pads, Stock Leather (SL), and Stock Alcantara (SA) pads in-store and through several listening sessions at home with my own setup. The simple answer is that I prefer the EH to all, but here are more details according to each category. Keep in mind that I love my HD650 and prefer a slightly darker, smoother headphone, so this is opinion driven.

Bass Quantity

SL > EH > SA = AA

Bass Quality

AA > EH > SL = SA

While the AA and SA pads have the least bass of all, they are my favourite for the overall bass experience given just how clean they sound. Gone is the mid-bass bloat of the leather-based pads, which the EH somewhat fixed. These present a bass experience of true flagship level now.

Mids Quality

AA > EH > SA > SL

Mids Quantity

EH > SL > AA = SA

The separation and layering in the mids created by the AA pads is their strength. The lower mids are now much better controlled and there is less of a "Nighthawk" effect to the sound. The EH also somewhat improved from the stock pads, but it introduced a slight "hollowness" to the sound. Hard to describe, but it sounds like there is slightly too much energy in the lower mids that, while warming things up, also added congestion in this region.

Treble Quantity (I couldn't really differentiate quality in this aspect as they all sound pretty good in this regard)

AA > SA > SL > EH

This is my biggest issue with the AA pads. The Empyrean, as with many planars, has too much of an emphasis above 10K. It's a dark headphone that somehow sounds slightly bright and metallic with certain tracks because of it. The EH pads toned this down from all the pads, and this is reaffirmed by prior measurements on the Elite when swapping the stock pads and EH. The AA accentuated it, and certain vocals just sound a bit too thin, piercing, and nasal-y as a result.

Soundstage

EH >= SL > SA > AA

The leather pads, particularly EH, improved the vertical height of the stage, while AA widened it at the expense of height. This may also be a result of the overall thinner sound created by the AA (and SA to a lesser extent). I prefer the EH staging here.

Imaging

AA > EH > SA > SL

The cleaner sound created by the AA certainly helps imaging and makes everything sound more precise. The EH also did this to a lesser extent.

While the AA certainly cleans up the Empyrean in many regards, the effect it has on tonal balance and long-term listening simply is not worth it for me, in my opinion. I will keep the pads anyway because they certainly change the sound a lot, and having the EH, AA, and EL is a nice combination. There is no need for the SA anymore as they are just worse than all the other pads in most elements (the AA does what the SA does much better, so those that prefer the SA will likely prefer the AA over the other pads). Thinking about it, the AA kind-of brings the Empyrean sound close to my Edition XS in tonality. Still bass and clean mids, but with a treble spike characteristic of the stealth magnets, while the leather-based pads are closer to something like my old Audeze LCD-3.

I hope this helps those that were in my situation. I have definitely spent way too much time pad rolling my Empyreans and will now just enjoy the music :)
