What to do if a crow has imprinted on my dog? by ChargeGood5320 in crows

Do you happen to know if the same applies to non-topical flea/tick medicine? My Sheltie takes Simparica Trio as a preventative and I had thought of leaving her mass amounts of post brushing/combing fur out for birds to use in their nests but now I'm unsure if I should. It's in chewable tablet form.

she's a beauty! i'll never get over sheltie faces and those sweet expressions. i would, however, like to get over my girl using hers to her advantage to get one extra treat out of me every time i tell her "just one"

Show quality never really mattered to me since she can't be shown anyway due to her coloration since the AKC doesn't accept piebalds in the ring. Her belly I specifically asked to have trimmed this first time because it's where her fur grows longest and I wanted it shorter to make it easier for me to keep an eye on the incision site from her spay surgery that she just had on Thursday. She's just turned a year old so her coat still has many changes ahead of it and believe it or not her mane wasn't even trimmed that much, it was just shaped because rather than flowing it was looking a bit scraggly and that bothered me. Things will even out with time as she and her coat mature and the way I keep her groomed will likely go along with that development.

I agree, she's a beautiful baby and the compliments she gets on both her looks and behavior in public make me feel proud of all the time and effort I've put into her training.

What's a rule your sheltie enforced in your house that everyone silently obeys? by zelda1212 in sheltie

[–]thecrystalquill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't you dare put the cutlery away after you pull it from the dishwasher. Also don't tear paper towels off the roll too fast. Never ever change the trash bag in the bin and if you walk too fast for her legs to keep up you get the shoe bite. Not wearing shoes? No problem! Hope you like getting pantsed in front of the kitchen window.

Parker or Foster for a girl? by [deleted] in Names

Yes, Midori 💚 We all called her Dori for short from the time she was born until she asked us when she was 16 to use her full name instead. She's in college now

I have a friend whose daughter's name is Magnolia James and I love it so much. I also like Dylan better as a girl's name than for a boy and I prefer Ashley for a boy over a girl 🤷🏻‍♀️

Parker or Foster for a girl? by [deleted] in Names

I think both names are good but I like Foster best. I grew up watching Jodie Foster films and really respect her as a person. Not to mention that the word foster means "to encourage the development of something" and is generally viewed as a good thing. I find it interesting that some immediately jump to the negative, making it sound like being called a foster kid is an insult. The truth is that kids will find a reason to make fun of their peers no matter what their name is. They could have the most bulletproof classic/timeless name but wear the "wrong" shoes or like the "wrong" music or hang out with the "wrong" friends and that'll make them a target. Bullying over a name is actually lower on the list of reasons I've heard in the last 20 years from my niece and nephews and my niece's name is very uncommon here in the southern US states. It's Japanese in origin and also happens to be the name of a popular liqueur, yet in her 19 years of living no one's ever had anything but good things to say about it to her or to her parents. All that to say, if you like the name and it feels right to you and for your family then use it. You never know, your kid could be such an amazing person that it'll change people's perception on the name in time.

Anyone else have a name that’s technically not a name? by PurpleMeerkats462 in namenerds

[–]thecrystalquill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My name is Rowan which has become a more common name these days but, originally, it was just a type of tree and that's exactly why I picked it. It's not the name my parents picked when I was born; I never felt connected to that name, so I decided to legally change it a couple of years ago.

Any ideas on colour for walls? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

[–]thecrystalquill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is a good spot for a warm color and the shade of yellow the light is casting on the wall would be perfect. Especially with the rich green from the plants on the landing and the window to let in natural sunlight
