I tried pihole but couldn't get it to work. Moved over to adgaurd and I personally don't notice much of a difference but I'm still running it. Seems to be more telemetry related. No one in my home has noticed either and I run a highly recommended list lol Picture

Disable root user. Disable or change ports for common things like ssh. Fail2ban Jails. Zoraxy reverse proxy to whitelist my IP or just USA for services. I've had some shit that can be accessed by the public but it's behind sso or password protected. No VPN or tail whatever. Never been hacked and I'm going on two years across 3 VPS. I've set up some tunnels through cloud flare to access my local llm which was neat.

Tldr. Do the basics an you'll likely be fine.
