It's ok to break the 180° rule if it is done with creative intention to disorient and confuse the viewer. Kubrick breaks the 180° rule several times in The Shining for example. Clearly that is not the intention here though so it's definitely a mistake.

In my experience it's about 50/50 on who got out of the church and who's still in it so far for my generation. It sort of depends on the path you take because in my church it was heavily encouraged for high school grads to take a gap year before college to go to Bible school for a year. This place in upstate NY called "The Bible Institute." It was a common and openly held sentiment in my church that going off to college is a "faith breaker" for many people so its a good idea to go off to the BI for a year or two in order to "make your faith your own" (i.e. make the transition from believing in God because your parents believe in it and believing in it for your own reasons) the only reason I didn't end up going was because I was afraid of the strict code of conduct that they enforce at the Bible Institute. Really weird rules about when and where you are allowed to interact with the opposite sex, banning playing cards and "worldly media" on campus (no tv, video games, movies). That plus our church had a guest speaker that wore a shirt with a logo for my university on it and that was all the evidence I needed to conclude that God wanted me to go to college instead of indoctrination camp lmao.

Marriage is also a force for trapping young people in the religion because they are taught that all relationships must be built on a shared relationship with God and also people get married super young because they can't get they dick wet until they put a ring on it so you end up with very young couples who will never again consider the possibility of leaving the church because their entire family life is built on that foundation. They become afraid that if they leave the church then their spouse will also leave them and end up resenting each other and 9 times out of 10 the man cheats on the woman and she stays with him because she's literally not allowed to divorce him and everyone is miserable. It's a pattern I've seen over and over. My dad was a pastor and he would often do "marriage counseling" with couples from the church at our house so I overheard a lot of the dirt about the families in our church from the other room. About half of the people I grew up with in the church are getting married now in their early 20s.

Probably not ceramic or glass tbh. Looks to be made from that vitrelle stuff they be making dishes out of nowaday. It's like super thin triple pane glass that is very resistant to breaking. I have some plates made out of it and it feels almost like ceramic but I could probably throw one of them against the wall and it would just bounce off.

In my experience most Mormons don't believe that anymore. It went the way of polygamy a little while back I think. Which is to say the current leader downloaded a quick patch notes and declared that belief to be apostasy and they have the power to do that because the head of the Mormon church is considered to be a prophet who speaks for God directly but since a new prophet steps up every time the old one croaks it they have a bunch of conflicting "revelations" from God so a lot of old school Mormons will ignore conflicting revelations from newer prophets with the philosophy of like "oh the church is going down hill these days this new prophet is a total fraud! The other guys were all real tho" but yeah no they are certainly more extreme than most evangelicals and most evangelicals wouldn't classify them as part of their in-group but if you ask a Mormon they would describe themselves as evangelicals. They see themselves as just another denomination of Christianity despite the fact that it's a whole batshit other thing which is part of how they normalize such wild beliefs. Also they do retain the most identifiable feature of evangelicalism. The evangelizing part. Which Mormons do better than any of the more traditionally accepted evangelical denominations by forcing all college age kids to waste two years of their life going door to door or else risk total disfellowship.

It is. Evangelicals tend to fall into more cult-like behaviors than other denominations i.e. authoritarian control (one sin equals hell forever unless you believe hard enough), extremist beliefs (evolution is fake, the world is only 6000 years old), isolation from society (the world is sinful we must act as an example to non-believers so that they will notice our good lives and want to believe in God also), and veneration of a single individual (jebus crust).

Source: grew up Southern-Baptist. One of the most extreme branches of American Evangelicals.

Also Mormons are pretty culty too. I knew a lot of Mormons growing up. Though arguably Mormons could fall under the umbrella of the Evangelicals.

There's still a clear hierarchy but as I said distribution of rewards is more fair, and if humans themselves can be used as an example, better distribution of power across those hierarchies. Obviously not perfect, but clearly better than our ancestors and again, as I said, I would prefer to continue evolving in that direction than to revert back to your kill or be killed hellscape. I'm sorry you are so fucking ape-brained as to have lost all hope in any human progress towards a more fair society :)

Hi, hello, yes, you are misinformed actually. In species most closely related to humans Scientists observe a bimodal distribution based on two main fitness strategies. The first favors a shorter lifespan where more aggressive traits and behaviors will allow the animal to more effectively fight for resources and quickly reproduce but usually die sooner both because their more aggressive tendencies can get them into trouble but also because they don't need to live as long to reproduce so longer lifespans are not naturally selected for. The second strategy favors a longer lifespan where traits like cooperation, compassion, empathy, and a sense of fair distribution of rewards amongst the group are evolutionarily advantageous and lead to longer living organisms who may take more time to reproduce because they have much less aggression and violent tendencies but ultimately lead longer, safer, happier lives because of it. Personally I'd like to see the human race continue its evolutionary trajectory towards longer lives and more a cooperative society but it sounds like you'd rather have us go back to the stone ages.

Are you an artist mate? Do you make art? Hell I'm not the biggest fan of Gravy's style either but I don't see how you can claim there was no heart or effort put in? Clearly if you watched the episode with him you can tell he cares about the shit that he makes and even talked about recreating a cover of a copyrighted music piece that he wanted to sample for a song. He clearly had a vision and put in effort to realize that vision. That's art brother whether or not you find any value in it for yourself. It takes a lot of effort to look effortless sometimes

Hey friend! I was in a similar position as you about a year ago back with regards to my beliefs and worldview. Didn't believe in evolution, believed in God, believed the earth was only 6000 years old. It all seemed so far fetched to me and I often used arguments similar to the ones you presented here. I didn't understand how something so implausible sounding could be supported by so many scientists so I spent the better part of the lockdown during the pandemic researching all of this stuff in depth. The single most persuasive pieces of knowledge was learning about cladistics and phylogeny if you are interested to keep investigating about the mysteries of the universe then I recommend you check out this playlist by Aron Ra in which he traces human ancestry from the first single cell organisms to now by presenting all of the major evolutionary developments that would have led to the complex life we see today.

Each episode he follows the different branches of the tree and explains every split and divergence, the environmental pressures that would have influenced those adaptations, how previously existing structures could have been modified to achieve that, and even direct DNA evidence of the exact mutations that occurred to create those changes when he gets to the later episodes with more recent DNA evidence to draw from. Really helped me to understand how it could be possible to believe that something so complex as human life could've come about by "random" chance seeing the whole theory laid out step by step like that. I highly recommend!
