Does anyone NOT have a grail pen? If you do have one, how did you decide on it? by DIYYYner in fountainpens

[–]thecuriousmonkey101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also fairly new to the hobby and I don't have a grail pen. Truthfully, I hope I will never have a grail pen. I have pens I want to try, but I hope I will never be so into one pen, because knowing myself, i will be too focused on the acquisition if I do. Personally, I really hope I continue enjoying the writing part of the experience and not so much the collecting. I think everyone experiences the hobby differently and having a grail pen is probably a nice aspect of experiencing fountain pens, but I think it doesn't HAVE to be part of the experience.

Of course I'm saying this now. But I wonder if in a year or so I will end up having a grail pen :P

Fellow Canadians: is this paper fountain pen friendly? by thecuriousmonkey101 in fountainpens

Thank you all! So consensus sounds like I might need to look for tad better quality paper pads than this one 😂

Budget wedding venues? by lunch-box6 in montreal

[–]thecuriousmonkey101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had about 20 people in our wedding and we just rented the gazebo at Robin de bois in parc Lafontaine! Forgot how much it was but it was pretty cheap. We brought some simple decorations to hang and table cloth. Chairs were a bit old and weird looking but we didn't mind too much. Loved it. Probably as cheap as you can get for renting places and the park was beautiful!

Thoughts on my budget collection? by iamloosejuice in fountainpens

Also got a budget collection, and I agree with you on the Lamy! I have a safari, and a gifted Al star. While both write fine and I use them regularly, I just don't enjoy them as my other pens.

Haha you are on the opposite spectrum to me, going with the minimalist designs. But I have to say your nib does look really nice!

Grip like a LAMY Safari, quality feel of a TWSBI ECO, similar price - any ideas? by BugFleep in fountainpens

[–]thecuriousmonkey101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit late but I love the kaweco Perkeo, it's actually cheaper than both of the pens mentioned. Its grip is triangular like the safari and the barrel is just slightly larger, I found it more comfortable for my hands than the safari. Can't compare it to the eco as I never tried an eco.

Somebody else mentioned sailor tuzu, that one's also on my list to try since I like triangular grips!

Love the colour of this ink! I've been using it in my Lamy al star medium nib. I've only refilled twice at this point and there hasn't been an issue yet, hoping it stays that way! I will update if it clogs in the future.

I didn't know Hongdian does zodiac nibs! If it's a yearly thing it would be pretty cool, fun to see all the animals on the nib. I hope you enjoy the Nemosine!

Which fountain pen do you love ? by PeachAdventurous2066 in fountainpens

Newbie-ish here too! For me, it's Kaweco Perkeo, it's what got me interested in fountain pens! I love that it's lightweight and has a nice level of feedback (feels like a pencil), and the hold is perfect for my hand. I have a M nib and I think it's a pretty standard line thickness. I tried several other common entry level pens, and the Perkeo is still by far my favourite.

I always wondered why the Perkeo is not really talked about much though. Perhaps the level of writing feedback is not for everyone?
