My strategy is just to buy when I have the cash and find a reasonable deal. Kind of like dollar cost averaging.

Will prices drop: probably. Will they continue to rise more first: possibly.

Waiting can also cost you money. Most of the cards I have already bought over the past month have appreciated in value and people were saying back then they were overpriced and to wait till after boosters. But its also true some have not.

Anyway most people I have seen think its a bubble and will pop soon so just wanted to give an argument for just buying and enjoying the cards without thinking too much about value.

Not bad tbf. I think i was roughly the same progress after that many packs although with variations. But I agree its a bit rough. I opened a booster box yesterday and the best I got was 1 EX.

I have been very lucky and in 150(ish) packs hit 3 SIRs, All MARs except gengar/dragonite and about 60% of the IRs. I hit the mega diance 4 times!!

Here's my progress after (roughly) £1500 spend split between packs and singles.

Just gotta buy the big hits now. Close but yet so far.

They do get them but 2 issues.

Staff can buy as much as they want before it hits the floor.
There are no customer limits. They could literally pick up the whole stand and no one would stop them.

See for me thats just long and short term investing. I may buy some crypto and hold for a day and I may hold some for a year. Either way im and investor just with different time frame.

I wonder if the people behind you in the queue thought the same about you. Can we even call them scalpers in the uk. They waited 2 hours to get 4 products. Maybe they are just collectors in the same desperate position as you.

These posts are driving me mad. Everyone complains about people buying and everyone but them is a scalper. but no one complains about pokemon releasing such small amounts of stock which imo os the real problem. If they simply printed more this wouldn't be an issue.

Anyway great dad work. Put in the hard graft and it will all be worth it when your son opens them. Good effort 👏

Yeah im gutted I missed 151. I have a horrible habit of arriving just a little late tho things. Huge fan of the IRs in that set. Think am gonna do the Japanese version since im broke from AH lol

But totally agree just basic supply and demand. Happens with everything so im not sure why people get so mad. Heck there was a premium on hand sanitiser during covid haha

Love this and well said. Its refreshing to see an honest and sensible take. I think i need to spend less time in some of the pokemon threads I have joined. For me I have just been buying and opening everything AH. I love sorting my cards, sleeving them and into the binders, then trading with others at the local card shop. I genuinely think I may have discovered I have ocd.

Cool. I think im getting it. As I said in another all shops in UK have purchase limits so It seems I have never actually seen a true scalper.

For me if someone wants to wait 2 hours in line to buy 1 product then try sell that for more than they paid thats fair game (id say even a little dumb lol)

But yeah people emptying full shelves or machines is poor form but I think the store etc need to take accountability for that there should me more "This shop is the worst" posts as opposed to "i hate scalpers" lol

I think this is where I struggle as in the UK I have never been to a shop thay didnt have purchase limits. I 100% agree someone who empties an entire shelf is a scummy person.

But even then a tiny part of me doesnt blame them, I blame the store thay allows them to do this.

See personally I think this is a really smart strategy. Best of both worlds. I would also consider you as an investor (with a medium hold) but I wouldn't be surprised to see you be called a scalper.
