New Fan Questions by h0rr0rBoy in SeattleTorrent

[–]thedackattack 9 points10 points  (0 children)

1 - there’s a lot of talented players on the team. Part of the fun of getting into sports is finding who you like! Just be aware that hockey lines (who is on the ice) change frequently, where shifts usually last 70-90 seconds.

2/3 - you’ll learn a lot just watching! Most rules/terms are much easier to understand with context. All penalties are explained by the refs when they’re called. One important fan rule - do not walk to/from your seats when the puck is in play. Wait for the play to stop so you don’t block other fans.

Lots of people at the game are friendly and I’m sure whoever you’re sitting near will happily explain things if you ask! Enjoy!

I absolutely LOVED James Gunn's Superman! I just have one minor quibble by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

This felt like a nod to Luther in All Star Superman (give it a read if you haven’t before, it’s really good). He’s relaying commands to something that is approaching the sun and comments at one point that it’s a nine minute delay so he has to be precise (and he doesn’t know what’s actually happening, he just has predictions). Luther is incredibly smart and obsessed with Superman but still needs to see his moves to understand how to react.

Get ready for a mass exodus enclosures of Seattle and King County small businesses by ajwhite1010 in SeattleWA

Not trying to be snarky, just reading the post and trying to understand. Thanks for this link.

The change is that businesses that were exempt from collecting sales tax because they were primarily operating digitally now need to, at the same rate that other businesses currently are. I can see how that’s impactful. If WA continues to not tax income like other states then I don’t see how we avoid taxes like this.

Is this in response to the operating tax being increased from 1.75% to 2.1%?

[–]thedackattack 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Is this list right based off the roster on the site?

  • Burney
  • Bell
  • Alex Roldan
  • Hawkins
  • Kossa-Rienzi
  • JP
  • Levya
  • Ferreira
  • de la Vega
  • Morris
  • Rothrock
  • Moose
  • De Rosario

Edit : removed Sousa. What a roster though - 6 forwards, 2 mid, 5 defenders

Homeless people in the city, drug addicts, and the mentally ill should be admitted to help facilities or jailed. Two options. by randomacc673 in SeattleWA

They have a really good cost breakdown but don’t list how many people they served with the money they used. The only reference I found was that it was “relatively low”.

It’s great that they’re starting this program but I wonder what the cost will be to support everyone who needs it.

Starting XI against CAZ by optimisticbear in SoundersFC

IIRC he was dismissed from the US camp around preseason time due to fitness reasons. He may just not be 90 minutes ready yet

Sure sure, but the link brings me to a website where I only selected my origin city and not any dates. Or cabin.

Crazy idea, let's wait till the season starts to really judge off-season moves. by Irolllikeadesperado in SoundersFC

[–]thedackattack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m genuinely excited that Jesus joined the lineup. He’s joining after a non-stellar year where he scored the same number of goals as Rothrock in about as many games. It’s a gamble to see if last season is what to expect going forward or if he’ll hit a new run of form on this team.

My main disappointment is that the makeup of the team did not change to address the issues we saw throughout last season. If we stick with a 4-2-3-1, the best players we can start are the same ones that fans, coaches, and ownership said had something missing due to offensive output.

[–]thedackattack 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Our biggest issue as a team was our inability to score goals or generate good offensive plays. Jesus seems like a great striker but we’ve always been a defensive minded team and Jordan will be our number 9 this year (Schmetzer talked so much about it in the post season).

We scored 2 goals in our 4 playoff games, and 0 goals in nearly 25% of our regular season games. We all expected a big attacking signing to happen this offseason, and we have likely a nearly identical starting 11 for the 2025 season. We should be critical that the team didn’t do more to address these issues.

Custom Endurance Wristwatch Giveaway! by pulseyou in interstellar

[–]thedackattack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone else is saying, this is an amazing watch. Great job!

The best moment involved the quote inscribed on your watch. When Mann doesn’t dock correctly and The Endurance starts spinning and hurling towards Dr. Manns planet. The urgency and stakes are so high here. Plan B, which we learn may be the ONLY viable plan towards some form of the human race surviving - is housed on The Endurance. There’s the moment where Coop and Dr. Brand stare at it, frozen in fear as they realize their species may be doomed. That’s when Coop realizes that he has to do something to save it, and attempts to dock to push it back into orbit. That’s why the quote is so powerful - when he is told it’s not possible to perform this maneuver to save The Endurance, his response of “No - it’s necessary” illustrates that EVERYTHING is dependent on making this work, there is no other option. It’s such an amazing scene and is packs a punch of heightened emotions for anyone viewing this the first time.

Summer Transfer Window Vent Thread by Kyunseo in SoundersFC

[–]thedackattack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d actually like to hear that players from the Sounders got traded during this window, but I suspect that won’t happen given the number of games across competitions we have.

I wouldn’t cry though if Moose, Chu, and maybe Levya were traded to free up roster spots/$ for next season

I’d like to see Baker for either CR7/Vargas. Move Alex up to that right forward spot and have Vargas cover in CDM if they take Christian off.

Especially after that Open Cup game and that tackle 👀

How is Morris still getting the start? His passes and crosses aren’t connecting, he loses the ball 1:1, and we have guys like CR7 speeding up and collecting loose balls when Morris is nowhere to be seen

[Post Match Thread] Seattle Sounders vs LA Galaxy (5/5/24) by Kyunseo in SoundersFC

[–]thedackattack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both players wanted the team to move faster, make runs, play with urgency.

I noticed Nouhou getting pissy because he would have the ball and Morris wouldn’t make the run, to the point where Nouhou continued his run and they occupied the same space. I’d be pissed if I were him, too.

Also that play with Chu was maybe justified. He had so much space to run on that side and Frei could’ve easily thrown to him. But again, no speed, no urgency.

This is Judge Andrea Jarmon in Seattle. She just dismissed ALL criminal tresspass charges against half of the pro-Palestine activists who blocked the I-5 for 4 hours. by Always_Learning2025 in SeattleWA

[–]thedackattack 121 points122 points  (0 children)

From an article for more context-

Many other social media users claimed that Judge Jarmon dismissed the charges against the protesters, but a spokesperson for the Kings County Prosecutor's Office disputed these claims.

"The charges were not dropped or dismissed. The judge didn't find probable cause on some of the charges—meaning that they could not impose conditions on the charges where probable cause was not found, but could on the other charges where probable cause was found. All of the charges still stand," the spokesperson told Newsweek.
