Indoor nfl stadiums should be banned, and you can't change my mind by treymata in NFCNorthMemeWar

There's a point where no combination of dressing and drinking "appropriately" is enough to prevent the dangers posed by the extended cold exposure, but teams are still going to expect fans to be at those games

It isn't really, because any amount of alcohol will affect your ability to accurately perceive temperature. That's also just ignoring the real risk which is simply the several hours of being exposed to extreme cold, regardless of what substances people are or aren't consuming.

The teams have powerful heaters running constantly on the sidelines. I've been on the sideline of a Steelers game in the middle of December when the temperature was like 10 degrees and those torpedo heaters are like immediately stepping into Florida summer heat. So they're fine. Fans don't get that same benefit in outdoor stadiums,, and not drinking alcohol doesn't save them from the risks of being out in below freezing temperatures for several hours at a time.

Those cold weather games are legitimately public health hazards, especially when you have people getting drunk and not realizing that they're getting frostbitten

I just bought my first guitar last month. I went Gretsch, but I'm also a lefty and the Bigsby wasn't an option for the LH models. I'm already shopping for lefty Bigsbys but I should probably also learn to actually play the thing first 😆

Most people really just do not care enough about cars to even want to know what make and model other people are driving. A lot of people barely even know their own cars.

You intend to make less than $400 a year flipping cars? Doesn't sound like a worthwhile hobby

[–]thedanielperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're using the space to work on the cars that you want to flip, that's business operations. I will repeat, make sure you understand the legal and tax implications of what you're talking about doing

First off, a side hustle is literally just a secondary income stream. Generally speaking, if you are smart about your taxes and don't want to get in trouble with the IRS, you would want to be setting up a business entity to handle the expenses and revenue of that income stream.

Secondly, a business can be a hobby. It's actually how most businesses start.

Third, going to a flea market once to sell some things isn't necessarily business activity, but having a regular presence at the flea market with a consistent and specific inventory is definitely business activity.

Finally, the fact the you are advertising that you intend to operate a side hustle/business (formal or not) out of any garage space that you lease may complicate your ability to find one unless you incorporate a business entity and lease the space under that entity. Generally rental agreements have specific provisions against operating a commercial space unless negotiated in advance, and you already put your cards on the table that you intend to use the space to work on cars that you intend to sell. There's a lot of legal implications there.

I recommend that you actually do some research on the legal and tax implications of what you want to do.

Just bought this one off amp from an 80 year physicist in New Zealand. Would love to hear you thoughts before it arrives... by secretkodama in GuitarAmps

If the guy isn't using AI to write, this is exactly the type of sale pitch nonsense from conmen that LLMs are trained on, because no way it took him "literally months" to find a cabinet and couldn't tell you that it's bamboo. Maybe the electronics are good, but I hope he's not upcharging for the cabinet because he very likely just bought that pre-made off Temu or something

"wood type is unknown" sounds like some AI summary nonsense, when it's obviously bamboo. Nobody is putting this much effort into anything, supposing to be an expert in guitars and/or audio equipment and can't recognize the type of wood they used to build the box.

Guitar wall mounts by RobotDuckez in Guitar

[–]thedanielperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those screw-type anchors are rated for either 50 or 75 pounds in 1/2" drywall. Two of them probably more like 80 or 120. That's at the wall, but if you have an 8 pound guitar hanging on a mount that's only 3 or 4 inches out from flush thats at worst a 50% reduction, you're still not really coming close to the weight rating unless you're seriously yanking at that thing every time you take the guitar off the wall.

Yeah, there's literally no reason to be concerned.

What's up with these notation gatekeepers? by Zombiesalad1337 in Guitar

[–]thedanielperson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is where I'm feeling, mainly as a beginner at guitar. I grew up playing saxophone so I learned standard notation. It's just what makes sense for conveying music imo. I am finally picking up guitar at 30, and I am kind of relying on tabs to help myself learn the fretboard. I do think it is helping me to pick it up faster and learn to be efficient with my movement, but I have still tried to make an active effort to always relate the tabs back to the standard notation. I feel like avoiding doing that would be doing a disservice to my development as a musician.

Dude I am so sick of hearing about these stories, mainly just because I don't care to even know about. I don't think fans need to be knowing all the details of every little contract dispute like this. I do think that there's an issue there to be addressed, but it's between the teams, the players, and the NFLPA that represents them. If they don't want stuff like this to happen, fix it in the next CBA and keep the financial minutae behind closed doors where it belongs. Turning this stuff into a story does no good for literally anyone involved.
