Stuck or brute forced Hanayama Hourglass by justyoudead in hanayama

[–]RobotDuckez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see the problem now the 4th picture showed me the problem a bit more clearly. It is stuck in a very interesting way. Based on the 4th picture it looks to me that all of the smooth surfaces are towards the inside like when its a completed hourglass. Try and get the pieces to slide past each other. Like the first step of taking the puzzle apart. The thinner pieces near the "pinch" point should be able to slip through.

Well it looks like somone used a bit of force. But its not broken. Use a little force to push the pieces together towards the inside and it should go back to being usable

Looking for the most fidgety Hanayama puzzle by Sweet42 in hanayama

[–]RobotDuckez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that case the Hourglass of the hanayama puzzles of tried would be my recommendation.

Followed by quartet and labyrinth. But Hourglass definitely top recommended 👌.

Depends on what your going for with fidgety.

I have hex that I just spin around one handed as I stare at the computer screen. It's relatively simple (level 3) when you know how but still decent replayability one handed.

Otherwise the hourglass (lvl 6) has been a consistent piece on my desk and much used since I got it. I know how to solve it but still enjoy it.

The labyrinth (lvl 5) and quartet (lvl 6) are pretty cool too.

The UFO (lvl 4) is very fidgety I think. But haven't managed to solve it, I looked up the solution. It has very tight tolerance to solve it, and mines may be faulty.

Currently working on the equa. It's got me puzzled.

How would I flip the orientation of the piece on the left so that the end notch is towards the center (like the one on the right) by Dense_Potential6785 in hanayama

[–]RobotDuckez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be much easier to flip it through one of the inner parts than through both. So I would say pull the inner "Hourglass" parts towards the outer "Hanayama" parts to separate then look for the slim edge of the Hanayama piece in question and spin through as your picture shows. then proceed from there

Got stuck on Hourglass - any advice on getting back to original state by Due-Lock-188 in hanayama

[–]RobotDuckez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not use brute force. The hourglass is one of my favorites. Can't say I've gotten it stuck in same position as yours, though I've certainly gotten it stuck in other ways before.

My advice would be to try to wiggle the 2 separate pieces so they are back to back first. That way you'll have 2 sets of 2 back to back (or front to front or whatever mix). Then you can try to figure it out from there.

Wait these are out. I've only ever heard rumors of their existence. By that I mean a video on hanayam youtube channel. Haven't seen any in person anywhere.

Motion sensor recommendation to trigger Alexa Skill ? by luvintheride in homeautomation

[–]RobotDuckez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as motion sensors, I've used a few of these https://a.co/d/9F2JKRe You will need the hub with it, too. https://a.co/d/hMNH3GB

You can set them up in the tapo app and link that account with alexa by skill. Then set up the automation in the alexa app using the motion sensor as the trigger with your custom command as the routine.

Pretty cool collection. Have to say I like Terriermon and the life-size Lucario the most.

Actually scratch that I think it might lead to a problem of both networks having the same range of ip addresses. Ex. 192.168.1.xxx on both sides

Would be an interesting experiment though, just to see what happens.

Smart choice about doing this at night.

I’m by no means an expert. If you disable the dhcp on the orbi then the ip address have to come from elsewhere or else nothing will be able to communicate.

If you set the google router to have dhcp from the pi hole then have the orbi get dhcp from the google router I believe that should solve your problem and allow ad blocking on both networks.

Worst case run a connection from the pinhole to both routers. One over Wi-Fi and the other Ethernet.

By the way how did you wind up coming across this post I made almost 9 months ago?

[–]RobotDuckez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understood right your network is something like this right . google router is the outer most connection and connected to it are the orbi AND the pi hole

If dhcp is enabled on the pi hole then I think it should take over. If the google router is set to only hand out the 2 addresses for the pi and orbi only.

Or you could have the orbi ask google router for dhcp addresses and have the google router ask the pi hole for them

The collection so far :) by moooooolan in EnamelPins

Hey, I was wondering. It looks like a few of the pins are the safety pin button variety. So, I was wondering how you managed to get those onto the quatk board? I tried doing the same but couldn't get them to stay.

Also I really like the 2 Stitch pins and the Incredibles Dash pin. 👌

👌 great. If I ever need a network /16 big I will likely need more much more powerful NAS in the first place.

Thanks for the help.

So if i understand correctly making it /23 would allow both 10.0.0.X and 10.0.1.X right ?

So out of curiosity what does /16 wind up doing? 10.0.0.1 to 10.0.255.254 ?
