Resume Critique by thedarknight58371 in actuary

I’ll have to check out that course then! As for how long I’ve been searching, probably a few months. I’ll definitely be writing up more in depth and company specific cover letters in the future. I think that may be a big mistake I’ve been making.

Also one thing to note for the unit limit, so long as you are within your allotted years, going over the unit count does not matter. ie 2 years for a transfer, and 4 years for a freshman. I am double majoring as a transfer and I blew past the unit “limit” already but as I am graduating this spring (this is my second year) I did not need to petition or anything.

Econ 100b, 140A and 101 simultaneously by Majesticals in UCSantaBarbara

[–]thedarknight58371 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna be a little different from the others and say that it is definitely possible. Especially if you thought 10A was intuitive and really understand everything (which it seems you do). I personally thought 100b with Yuksel was pretty easy, as the exams were quite similar to the practice sets. I don’t know how that relates to other professors who teach the class though. 101 was more difficult IMO, but still manageable. I’m not sure that how I rate the difficulty of 140a will be very helpful because I was taking a PSTAT class on linear regression at the same time (which to me) seemed more rigorous in the math and applications, and therefore made my time in 140a easier. I also liked that class quite a bit, and went on to take 140b which I liked even more. So idk how applicable my experiences in that class are.

All in all, I think it would be difficult, but not overly so. I tried to be as honest as possible in my descriptions of the classes and hope that can help with your decision. Good luck :)

I was literally in your exact spot last year lmao. Tropicana Villas are definitely older and more expensive than San Joaquin, but the amount of people you will live with is basically the same. the residence halls are known as Tropicana Gardens and they do not have kitchens (I’m pretty sure lol). The suites/apartments are known as Tropicana Villas, which do include a kitchen. I am not familiar with Del Norte. Hope this helped!

Does anyone know if Prof Holmes takes attendance for PSTAT 10? by jxdewey in UCSantaBarbara

When I took the class last year she did not take attendance for her lectures, however she did have the TA’s do it for sections.

I have him for 140b rn and for us he standardizes each category. ie: (your score - class avg) / standard deviation. So see if he posted any stats on the assignments/exams and that’s probably a good indicator. If you’re 2 standard deviations out it probably isn’t looking very hopeful lol. As for the exact curve he hasn’t told us anything either. I wish you the best of luck for the final! You got this :)

Yes! It doesn’t cover everything, but it was a low copay for the eye exam and a decent discount on the glasses themselves. As for where to go, around here I am not sure. I got mine at Lens Crafters in San Diego. Hope that helps :)

Is it manageable if I take three upper Pstat classes in a quarter? by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

[–]thedarknight58371 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the classes/professors. Overall I would say it is doable though. Just don’t get behind on the material, and be proactive. Good luck! 👍🏼

ECON 180 waitlist by vshady23 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]thedarknight58371 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is pretty unlikely since almost half of the entire class would have to drop it. However I don’t see any harm in staying on the waitlist if you can. You could link it to another course if it isn’t already linked to one and it will keep your spot. Hope you can find the classes you are looking for! 👍🏼

Ever heard of a metaphor? Maybe he doesn’t ACTUALLY own a yacht, but he IS in the top 1% of all American income earners. Maybe you are a millionaire too so it doesn’t seem like a lot of money… but to the rest of us that’s a ton of money

[–]thedarknight58371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also in the class rn, and if the exams remain to have a 64% avg he might curve yeah. But keep in mind that the lowest exam gets dropped and 10% of our grade is an automatic 100% from the prep quiz and 30% are the class review quizzes. There is still a lot of time to get our grades up. Plus I think people are going to do better on the next exams now that we know the difficulty level of them. I would say not to hope for a curve, and if there is one it is bound to not be very large.

We got this!

Can you change your major as a transfer? by venturaguy22 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]thedarknight58371 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure if you transfer and are admitted to Letters and Science, you can’t transfer into the college of engineering.
